Is anyone who can read Japanese playing? I think I’m stuck because of the language barrier. I have: Show

and rather a mess in the corner by the door. I’m thinking the next step’s gotta be something with the computer, but I can’t read anything…

There is a hole at the bottom. You have to use the ball from the mouse to plug it up. Then fill it with water

Ok, did a few more things, but still stuck. Show

I clicked the bottom of the cup to show that it has a hole. I plugged the hole with the mouse ball, then filled the cup with water from the mess in the corner. Then I put the pink thing in the cup to make the water steam. (Or at least emit vapors.)

Use the flashlight from the red box on the cup. You will get some numbers that are out of sequence. Use the grid in the book as your key.

Did somebody figure out the code for the computer? I think we have to use the numbers from the hot water glass and combine it with the elements in the book. I mean their positions in the periodic table.

How to figure out the code:

If you look at the grid in the book, figure out their number on the periodic table of elements, as vytraas has done.

The numbers from the grid, tell you which order to put in the numbers from the cup. That is the code.

I used the ruler and kept clicking on the red box and shelf until it fell and knocked over the vase. then you can get water in the cup from the vase.

I can’t find the key either so now I am stuck too.

Ok, here’s a quickie walkthrough.

Turns out the language barrier is pretty slight.

Get the cup and the blue-lidded jar. Look in the short blue book for a color diagram which I didn’t find a use for, and a 3×3 grid of letters. The letters are all symbols for elements from the periodic table: hydrogen (1), helium (2), beryllium (4), lithium (3), boron (5), nitrogen (7), carbon (6), oxygen (8), fluorine (9). You’ll need their atomic numbers in a bit.

Turn right. Click the cord to get the mouse. Click the mouse in your inventory and click “item”. Click the mouse until it turns over and you can get the mouse ball. Do “item” on the cup. Click the bottom to see that it has a hole. Use the mouse ball to plug it. Do “item” on the jar. Click the bottom until you get a pink pill. Close the item window.

Turn right. Get the ruler from the baseboard and the key from under the couch.

Turn right. Use the ruler on the shelf to knock everything down. Use the key to open the box and get the flashlight. Use the plugged cup on the water on the floor to fill it. Do “item” on the flashlight and click the switch so it turns on. Do “item” on the cup and put the pink pill in. Use the flashlight on the cup to reveal a 3×3 grid of numbers:

Use the information from the book to put the numbers in order. Notice that the atomic numbers are 1 through 9; they obviously give the order: the position corresponding to Hydrogen is first, Helium is second, and so on. You should get: 425861641.

Turn twice and enter the code in the computer. Click the button. Nothing will seem to happen (except more Japanese text below), but when you go to the door and click on it, you’re out.

Thanks J! I was using all sorts of combinations to figure out the correct order for the code…tried cell phone pad, computer number pad, but the one combo I should have known was the periodic table!!!! My father taught Chemistry and Biology for 40 years….yikes! I don’t think I’ll mention this! LOL!
