Brown Dyed Hotel

Brown Dyed Hotel is a mix of a puzzle game and a riddle game. Your goal here is to reach the next “room” by solving a little puzzle. It seems there is not a lot of “rooms” to explore, but the use of Flash adds interest to the game. All in all, a worthwhile diversion.

2008-02-29: Found on the main page: “It is time to unveil this website’s true purpose. We are making a game. A game that has not been seen anyone before. We are not trying to invent new genres, but we are doing a take on existing ones in a complete new way. The game is due very soon and we’ll be posting news about the progress as we go…”

About the original puzzle game: “The last page most people reached was a page showing four timers, of which three counted down to videos and the fourth one to the launch of this website. There was (and still is) lots more to find over this website…”

   Notice the numbers in the corner, just 1s and 0s and when you run your curser over points on the page, black clircles show up. They represent 1s. you have to get it to match the code.

    click on the word “work”, and you see ” ether might actually work”… then click somewhere near the movie in the black area ( top left corner, somewhere near the movie there), there should be a textarea, then type ” ether” there.

    click the left wall/door, then move all the way left, there is a text ” press b”. then press b. you should find a word ” hebrood”, read it backwards “doorbeh”… okay, now go back and click the right wall.. move all the way right, there is a text ” push here”, click there. then you see a text ” onaipdni”, read it backwards ” indpiano”, then combine the two words you got: ” doorbehindpiano”.

    go back and now just click the door in front of you, and youre in a room where is a piano. click the door behind the piano.

    when you click the square, you see a picture of a lake ( as the url says: bigblacklake) … then you should see a small circle = big circle… the small circle appeared at the place where the square was… what is the opposite of the bigblacklake? smallwhitelake. change the url to: http://browndyedhotel.com/smallwhitelake.html

    Okay… I’m at the beginning, I think… with the dots orbiting around the central dot. When I click, they orbit more quickly. I’m not sure if I’m supposed to type something or click something.

    here you can see some triangles, when you click on the picture the triangles change direction… okay, to the solution: there are three lines on the bottom right, okay so click the right line of the road…cant explain any other way…. click and hold the right line of the ” road”, hold it and at the same time move your mouse, you should see a new line there, which moves when your mouse moves…. okay, move your mouse to the top left corner, and you should see ” clock.html”, change the url to:

    okay, there is a black area above, drag your cursor back and forth over the black area until its all clear and you see a clock. click on the clock, and it should stop. then change the time to: 5:07. ( it can be difficult to change the time, becouse it has to be exactly 5:07) then you see a “picture” or some strange thing, click there and its done.

    On level 8, I only see 3 and a half circles on my screen… so it’s impossible for me :(

    WALKTHROUGH

    A note about this game is that you start at level 11 and go backwards. I didnt post the levels backwards, to those who didnt work that out.

    To start is easy, just click on any part of the white symbol

    Level 11
    Show

    The little moving dots are out solar system. The little ring, the only one that isnt a dot is earth. Click on it.

    Level 10
    Show

    This is a little complicated. Notice that when you move your curser up and down it rotates the inner ring. When you move it left and right it rotates the outer ring. When you click on the circle in the center a little black dot comes at you from either north, south, east or west. The idea is that you have to manage to get the dots to touch the center without touching the other two rings. You have to do it for all 4 directions.

    Level 9

    For this one you have to click on the balls to make all of the little squares, and the ball get between the two lines. If you hover your curser on the balls then they will get bigger and you click on them to make them drop, but dont let any part of the ball or squares get below the bottom line either. Once squares and balls are between the lines it takes you to the next level. Also, if you make a mistake, you can just refresh the page to try again.

    Level 8

    There is a number cote in the corner saying 10110. When you run your mouse over the screen you can see black circles show up. The idea is that the black sircles represent 1s and if there is a cap it is a 0. You have to show the 1st, 3rd and 4th circle but leave gaps on 2nd and 5th. Once youve done this, writing saying vision will come up on the bottom. Click on it for the next level.

    Level 7
    Show

    This one is simple. There are 4 dots to the bottom right of all the blured words on the page. You simply have to click the dots until you spell the word ‘blur’. Then one of the words will un-blur to say /machine. Replace the /unvision at the end of the web address to /machine with no .html on the end.

    Level 6
    Show

    This one might seem a little tricky, there are all sorts of paths and leads that I found when trying this one. But its prety simple when you know how. If you click the word ‘work’ on the screen a sentance comes up saying “ether might actually work”. This is significant. Remember ether. Now click around to the left of the video until you find a text box somewhere in the black. You have to time it right and type quick, but before the video loops again type ether into the box. If the video loops it erases what you typed and you have to try again.

    Level 5

    Click on the left wall and a load of words and letters show up. Scroll all the way to the left until you see where it says ‘press B’. press b. a page shows up with the writing HEBROOD. Click again. Click the right wall now and another bunch of letters shows up, scroll to the right to where it says ‘push here’. Click it there and you will see another nonsensical word saying ONAIPDNI. If you put the words together, and reverse them it says ‘Behind piano.’. Now click the door in the corridoor and an image of a piano shows up. Click the door in the background to get to the next level

    Level 4
    Show

    You should be on a screen that is just piano keys. Click and drag the third white key down until four others turn greyish. Click on those and your through. You may have to re-do it and click again.

    Level 3
    Show

    This is easy. The image means a sum. The first with the black square = white. It means black = white. And the seccond with the two circles, a small one and a big one means big=small. Notice whenever you click on the image you see a pictue of a big black lake. You need to change it to a small white lake and type smallwhitelake in place of bigblacklake on your web address.

    Level 2

    First off, ignore the triangles flashing about, they are just a distraction. Now, click the section at the bottom right corner of the image. You can drag it arround. So drag it to the section just below the top left corner. If you move it enough you can see writing that says ‘clock.html’ the next level

    Level 1
    Show

    If you move you mouse enough over the top section of black it will clear to show you a clock on the wall. You need to set the clock to 5:07. So point the small hand just a little after the 5 and the big hand almost exactly between 1 and 2. A door will open. The end

    I dont think there is anything else after it but this is a very strange game. Personally I love it, but ive heard rumors that it continues after level 1. But this is as far as this walktrough will go either way.

    On the timer page, if you click any of the writing…well most of it, it will take you to a page that says ‘number 12?’ On the web address the end of the URL says ‘totheend’ change it to just ‘theend’ and you will get taken to a page titled gosfish.

    I am so frustrated with Level 6!!!!! I am typing “ether” in the text box but I can’t get the game to progress. I type it before the video loops but it still isn’t cooperating…since I’m not too keen on going bald, I would appreciate any hints anyone can offer. I am typing while the music is playing…I’m assuming that it what I’m supposed to do…yes?

    popcorn…I found the text box to the right of the video also, but I still can’t get the game to progress. I clicked on “work” and have typed “ether” in the box but game doesn’t go to next level. I peaked at the walkthrough for that level and there was a comment about timing it just right…? Did it work for you and can you give me a clue? Anyone…a clue would be great! I’d love to continue this game. Thanks!

    Puzzle? All I see is a picture of a living room (very bad wallpaper, too). Initially, the top and the bottom are black. If I click on it enough, I can get the top black part to go away, and then I see a clock spinning rapidly. At some point, the clock stops spinning rapidly, and then if I click on it, it jumps back and forth between various times. Oh, and some faint grayish circles have appeared on the hideous wallpaper.
