Gold Miner Joe is a nice commercial platformer released in early 2004 by Swedish Game Development, better known as Arcade Lab, from Malmoe, Sweden.

S.G.D. recently launched its own online games portal, Donut Games, featuring a nice collection of free games of their own as well as deluxe downloads, all developed by Arcade Lab.

The good news is that you can now play for free the online version of Gold Miner Joe, including 8 levels, in which you will have to collect all the gold nuggets to open the shaft to the next level.

Controls are with the keyboard: use the arrow keys to move, Z or Ctrl to jump, press the A key to throw rocks at enemies and space bar to use a stick of dynamite.

The free version of Gold Miner Joe is far form the best online platformers, but it’s a nice diversion for a 15 minute break. Have fun!
