In Tortuga 2, the second installment in the new Room Escape series created by Mateusz Skutnik and Marek Frankowski from Pastel Games, you are imprisoned on a pirate ship and you will have to find a way to escape from there.
The game starts where the last one ended.
“Now that you’ve escaped from the pirate custody, it’s time to take your chance and escape from that cursed ship!“

The racially offensive stereotypes portrayed by the cook (minstrel-like extremely dark skin, large red lips and gap, kinky hair, etc) have caused many people to be turned off from this game. The designers acknowledge their feelings stating that they are not America and were not fully aware, have apologized and will be redoing the game shortly. I cannot believe that us as Americans think that everyhting has to be sensistive to us. If you don’t like the imagery, then don’t play the game. I am an American and the first thing I thought as this person probably is from another country. Don’t get all bent out of shape. The comment from MacGirl33 just completely sums up American hubris and also embarrasses me to no end.
@ SgtHulka – Mateusz is a great developer and I’m 100% sure he didn’t want to offense anybody. I’m embarrassed as well…

Oh, and I never thought that the chef was racially stereotyped, even though I am an American. I’m a bit embarrassed as well for some of the comments.

I’m french, should I be offended that they have a french cook on a pirate ship. I think not. Mateusz Skutnik is most definitely my favorite game creator and I would hate to think that he would have to stop and think about every little thing he puts into his games so as not to offend a person or two or three. The mans a genius and I would hate to see his hard work suffer or worst yet cease because someone playing one of his FREE games decides he’s a racist. Anyway I have had the pleasure of hearing your opinion and now you have heard mine.

Why does EVERYTHING need to be categorized? Why do people ALWAYS feel the need to ‘feel’ ‘offended’. It is all sooo Elementary. Grow up and be adults. This is a place where people can go in order to escape the politically correct world and just relax and have fun and just BE.
I came here to get a walkthrough because I’m stuck… not because I wanted to read about someone being or not being politically correct with whatever stereotypes some may have stuck in their ever so closed up minds. Now, can we get over the stereotypes and back to the game?!
