The Escape of Leo

The Escape of Leo is the fifth installment in the Japanese Room Escape series “Constellation Escape” created by Maka. Your main goal here is to collect all the blue cards and the red cards hidden in this place. If I’m counting right, there are still 7 more games to come out! Have fun!

    Walkthrough

    Click nut next to planter, get first blue card (“nut”). You can click the sign next to the door, but there’s nothing on it in English. Click wastebasket to get a clue: “Sun”. (Not a very useful clue, but I’m sure they meant well.)

    Turn left. Click hat to get a scroll with a cryptic remark: “emotional and intuitive” (translation is down at the bottom; read quickly because it goes away). Click teal pillow to get first red card. Click the other pillow twice to get another cryptic remark: “pure, shouwy, and feel lonely”. No, I haven’t a clue what “shouwy” is supposed to be. Click the left side of the window and get red card #2.

    Turn twice in either direction. There’s an unreadable scroll under the desk. Get red card #3 from behind the stack of books on the floor. You can open the three desk drawers on the right, but there’s nothing in them; you can’t yet open the left desk drawer, nor the chest on the shelf.

    Turn right and go into the hallway. Go in the door to the left (bedroom). Click the creature behind the bed twice, get red card #4. There’s a scroll under the bed with a web address: http://leosun.seesaa.net. No clue whether the site is useful or not, I didn’t visit it. There’s another scroll in the top of the cabinet: “initial”. Hint: this hint is actually useful.

    Go back to the hallway, then go in the door at the end (kitchen). Click to the right of the cabinets to get red card #5.

    Turn right. Click the apple twice to get a (useless) hint: “7/23 – 8/22”. Click under the chair that the apple was on to get a (useful) hint: “lucky number: 1” (translation at the bottom). Get blue card #2 (“jug”) from underneath the pitcher on the right.

    Turn right. Open fridge to see a scroll with a (semi-useful) hint: “You use 6 cards” (translation at the bottom).

    Turn right. Open door of cabinet and click garlic to get blue card #3 (“garlic”). Open bottom drawer and click the envelope until you get blue card #4 (“letter”). Open the left side of the closet and click the top box to get red card #6. Open the right side and click the umbrella to get blue card #5 (“umbrella”).

    Turn right. You can now open the middle two doors and get the last blue card (“egg”) from behind the eggs in the bowl.

    Turn twice and go out the door. Click the steps on the right and watch the animation, paying attention to what order the big stars appear in.

    Go back to the first room and turn left. Open the left desk drawer and get red card #7, then open the box on the shelf to get red card #8.

    Turn back to the big panel next to the hallway. Turn off the lights with the red arrow. Put the blue cards in place; it’ll only let you put each card in its correct spot. When you’re done, read the initial letters of the cards in the order of the animation to get the word “jungle”. Or you can just look at the initial letters of the cards and figure out that the only possible word they can form is “jungle”. In any case, turn the lights back on and go back to the kitchen.

    Turn left and open the right side of the closet, then open the access panel in the back of it. Enter the word you just found, followed by the number given in the hint under the chair: “jungle1”. Press the star to enter the code; it should say “Door has opened” at the bottom.

    Go back to the first room, turn twice to face the door, click the handle, and congrats: you’re out.

    And just ’cause I’m anal, here’s what the red cards open: Show

    pillow = pantry cabinet door (with garlic)
    window = right side of closet in kitchen
    stack of books = top of dresser in bedroom
    creature in bedroom = kitchen door
    behind kitchen cabinets = left desk drawer
    box in left side of kitchen closet = middle doors of kitchen cabinets (with eggs)
    left desk drawer = chest on shelf
    chest = access panel in right side of kitchen closet
