The Horror Mansion – Escape the Japanese Room is the fifth installment in the Mystery House – The Horror Mansion series created by Bianco Bianco, the author of Atibon’s Rival and The Third Space Station Tokio.

A pizza delivery guy enter the horror mansion: “hello, it is a pizza. Anybody home”. No answer… And now, the guy is trapped in a room, the Japanese one!

After the Basement, the Kitchen and the 213rd Guestroom, it’s time to escape from the Japanese Room!

   I noticed that the triangle is in the first position, square second and round in the third position. Tried the code 382 but it didn’t work…

   -The keyhole to escape in the end doesn’t show up if you don’t have the key, coin and comb in the water bowl

   Walkthrough (with MUCH help from Alexa!!)

   From the door, turn right twice. Click to the left of the bamboo screen to go behind it (you’ll see a bowl of water). Click on the left edge of the screen to turn left and pick up a cup. Note that star = 9. Click the bottom of the screen to go back to the water bowl. Click the upper right corner to see that x = 7. Click the bottom of the screen twice to zoom back out.

   Turn right once to face the 3 jugs. Click the stick at the top of the screen many times until it falls. Go left and click behind the bamboo screen again. Select the cup in your inventory and fill it with the flowing water. Back out, turn right and click on the partial bamboo stick where the ceiling stick fell. Use the cup of water on the bamboo and get the stick.

   Back out and go left twice. Note the crack that looks like an arrow in the wall above the round decoration. Click at the top of the screen where it’s pointing to see the hole in the ceiling. Put the stick from your inventory into the hole.

   Back out once and go right twice. Click into the partial bamboo stick again to see that # = 5. Back out once and click in the lower right “tail” of the kanji symbol on the wall to see that triangle = 3. Back out and go left twice. Click on the back left of the table to see that square = 8.

   Pick up the paper under the sword. From the info we have so far, we know that:
   OPEN = 957
   Mt. Fuji = 357
   Hawk = 987
   Eggplant = 95_
   Back out and click on the right edge of the round thing on the wall. This will give you a place to enter your codes. Put in 357 and hit the ENTER button. Put in 987 and hit the ENTER button. Through trial and error, I found that circle = 2, so put in 982 and hit ENTER. Finally, put in 957 and hit ENTER.

   Back out and open the round thing again. You might have to do this a couple times before you see a safe behind it instead of zooming in immediately. Open the safe and get the key. Turn right once. Open the left window and get the comb. Turn right again. Click the 8th rock from the left and get the key under it. Click the bottom of the bamboo stalks to zoom in and get the coin from the sand.

   Back out, turn left once and go behind the bamboo screen. Click the left side of the water bowl to go behind it. Put the comb, coin and the first key in your inventory into the back of the bowl. Back out once. Click the upper right corner of the screen (where “x=7” is). There should now be a keyhole. Use the remaining key on this.

   Back out twice, turn left twice, and click the door twice. You’re free!!

   Note: This is the good ending. You’ll get the bad ending if you Show

   click on the jars to take off their tops on the screen with the green bamboo stalks.

   P.S.: Did anyone ever find Show

   where the “circle = 2” was hidden? Or did we just have to guess that one?

   I think floor found the circle = 2: on the ceiling above the bamboo stalks. Click around the tops of them and you’ll be able to look up.

   Egads, this game is HORRIBLE. Not just pixel-hunting, but pixels that don’t become huntable until you’ve hunted down other random dead pixels – so just because you’ve clicked every friggin’ pixel in a certain area doesn’t mean there isn’t something there, it just means that the game designer is toying with you. I *hate* that.
