Dark Visions is a Point’n’Click adventure game with puzzle elements from 10th Play.

“During the fall of 1928, Emma Fischer travels alone by train to New Hampshire to begin work for her uncle, Dr. Frank Mahler.

Upon her arrival she finds that he is strangely absent, and is overcome by the nagging feeling that something is not right.

You play the role of Emma as she explores the mysteries of Hill Crest Manor.”

Dark Visions features over 50 unique backgrounds, interactive puzzles, animated characters, and scripted sequences.

It is a remake of a freeware adventure game we originally created in 1992, and was distributed on AOL for a brief time.

And it’s a very impressive work!

       I think I have the moon phase set correctly. Do I need to do anything else or does it open (or whatever happens) as soon as the clock and moon are set correctly?

       I dont understand what you mean. And the record says three different times, which one is correct? and ive tried to move the moon thing in every direction, but it doesnt work no matter what. I have no clue here no matter what the record or the book says i only get it wrong

     Look closely at the rambling diary

     you need to find the right position for the two fuses (first fuse from cupboard in creepy stair room, second from closed guest-room door), Lights should be on and wall should be clickable

     2. Show

     afterward you need to switch on the circle tic-tac-toe-positions found in the rambling diary as winning solution

     back at the fusebox insert a fuse in the bottom right position.

     Next: Show

     press the squares on the wall according to the clue given in the notes on the desk.

     last page, O’s win and highlighted game. Note the positions of the O’s in this game and press these parts of the grid.

   Here is the solution to the tic-tac-toe puzzle

   must have the 2 fuses both on the right side of the fuse box so that the lights are on in the hall and you see a ray of light from the cell at the end of the hall then you will be able to push the tiles on the wall. You push the tiles that are made with an O on the note in that room. The tic-tac-toe board that has a arrow pointing to it you push the tiles that correspond to the O’s on that note.

   I tried to post this walkthrough earlier but the server wasn’t responding. Here it is now:
   Show

   Walk to the right, note locked closet door. Walk back to the left and leave the room (bottom left).

   Go left and look at the wardrobe. Go further left and knock on the door.

   After the door closes, enter the room on the left (library).

   Examine the bookshelf (second shelf, left hand side – read the book: lunar positions and dates).

   Read the book on the table about safe combinations.

   Leave library, go right and downstairs. Front door is now chained up! Click exit to leave close up view.

   Walk right. Both doors are locked and party noises can be heard from within. Back up and walk left. Walk through open door (drawing room). Examine gramophone and take the record.

   Look at the piano and read the sheet music. Turn the pages.

   Exit the close up, leave the room and go right.

   Enter the next room on the left (office). Go up to the desk – nothing of interest on the desk.

   Zoom in on fuse box behind. All four fuses have been removed.

   Read note on back of fuse box door (only two fuses were in use).

   Exit close up and examine filing cabinet. Small keyhole in one.

   Exit close up. Door behind desk is locked. Leave office.

   Walk back to the rooms to the right of the staircase and listen at the door (now that the music isn’t playing). Make sure you listen to all the conversations (will eventually repeat).

   Go back upstairs and go right twice. Examine closet door on left (jammed shut). Walk through door on right (supply cupboard).

   Take the fuse from the shelf. Walk through the door ahead (servants’ quarters) and take the bucket. Examine the clock and take a closer look at the
   clock face. Can set time and moon phase. Exit close up and take the dusty record from the cupboard on the right.

   Go downstairs (kitchen). Walk further into the kitchen and talk to the chef.

   Go back upstairs and leave the storeroom. Follow the landing and go back downstairs to the main hall. Go left twice into the drawing room and use the
   gramophone. Play the dusty record and note the date (Apr 18 1975) and times (11, 11:30 and 12). Exit close up.

   Back upstairs in library note position for this date – last quarter moon (red) – note part to cover on clock.

   Back at clock, rotate red moon to last quarter as shown in the book and set time to 11:30 (one of the times given on the record). Exit close up and push clock to reveal secret compartment. Look in the compartment and take floor plan.

   Look at floor plan: shows position of Patient Hall behind Sitting Room (referred to office above). View other pages (prev/next buttons). Read notes on last page.

   Talk to man in master bedroom (James) again to ask about locked door. Go back to the kitchen and encounter man. Go and talk to James in master bedroom again. Emma is locked into the guest room.

   Walk to closet door – can hear voices. Examine vent to right of drawers and listen to conversation. Take heavy statue from top of drawers. Walk to door and use statue several times on door knob. Leave guest room.

   Go back to kitchen and enter. Take key ring (infront of stove).

   Go to master bedroom and enter. Enter the bathroom (to the left) and fill the bucket at the sink.

   Back in the bedroom, use the water to put out the fire. A ladder is revealed in the chimney breast (leading to the attic mentioned in the plan).

   Examine the desk, read the open journal on the desk and take the small key from the second drawer down on the left hand side. Exit close up.

   Use the chimney ladder (secret lab). Walk up to the workspace and examine the photos on the left. Anne Marie Mahler 07 25 1910-21. Close up on desk. Take empty syringe. If you click the table you can prepare a solution but Emma needs a formula first. Exit close up. Leave lab.

   Go back downstairs and try to enter office. Go back again to office and use the cupboard beside the door to hide in. When James leaves the office, enter.

   Go up to the filing cabinets and use the small key to open a drawer. Read the case notes.

   Exit close up and use the key ring on the door behind the desk. Enter but walk out again as it’s too dark.

   Go back upstairs to guest room and open closet door in corner with key from key ring. Open box on floor and take the fuse.

   Back in office, insert a fuse in the fuse box top right position, exit close up and re-enter the door behind the desk.

   Enter second room on left. Look at paper on desk.

   On second page, note:
   OXO
   OXX
   XOX O’s win.

   Examine grid on left. Needs power (as hinted in notes on desk).

   Leave room and walk further into corridor. Walk right to the end and look in room on left to see patient locked up. All the other doors in this corridor are locked and uninteresting.

   Go back out to fuse box and place the remaining fuse bottom right.

   Return to the room with the Naughts and Crosses board. Press the panels as indicated by the O’s in the notes on the desk.

   There’s whirring for 5 seconds (something has opened/happened).

   Go to end of corridor and look into room on left again. Patient has gone and doorway has opened.

   Enter room. If Emma tries to enter the second room she is stopped by the patient.

   Leave Patient Wing and go back upstairs. Go left and hide in the cupboard by the master bedroom until James leaves the library. Watch what happens.

   When James leaves go to picture, reveal safe and enter code 7-25-10 (right left right as given by book in library and date of birth given by photo in secret lab). Turn the handle to open the safe and take a gold coin and the formula paper. Exit close up.

   Return to secret lab (master room chimney). Read note beside rat.

   Read the formula and look for the ingredients on the desk. The pot with what was white powder (the sugar) is now empty. Go back to kitchen and look at shelves. Take sugar.

   Back in the lab, put the sugar into the water (next to the rat).

   Use the spoon and take 2 spoons of this mixture and place in bowl. Use the pipette and add 3 drops of insulin solution (right hand flask). With the spoon add 1 spoon of ergotamine powder (2nd jar on left).

   Now to guess! Add one spoon of the unidentified liquid in flask on left. Use syringe and fill with mixture. Inject into rat and observe – calm and attentive. From the note beside the rat this is what is needed. If the potion is wrong, throw it away and try again.

   Return to the Patients’ Wing and enter the occupied room at the end of the corridor. Use the syringe on the patient before otherwise interacting with him.

   Enter the room behind and go downstairs.

   Explore the dungeons and enter the unlocked cell on the right. Read the letter on the table.

   Examine the machine on the left. Lift the switch immediately to left of puzzle pieces (lights come on). Create a connexion from bottom left to top middle (top light comes on – I had to look at the ingame WT to see what to aim for here). Pull the big lever to the left. Exit close up.

   Leave cell and enter other cell on left. Take crowbar from crate.

   Leave cell, go back upstairs and use crowbar on closed door.

   Leave the Patients’ Wing and go back upstairs. Go right to end of corridor and note blood on floor under door on left. Use crowbar on door. Examine Uncle Frank’s body (the face to find the cause of death). Exit close up.

   Go back to the secret lab – James is there. Confront him – Emma runs off to the library.

   Use the crowbar to barricade the door and head further into the library.

   Use injection again on Ronald and wait for scene to play out.

   Examine James’ body and take a key.

   Go to main door and use key to exit.

   Good game with great graphics. I found the interaction a bit cumbersome having to swap between look/do/walk and sometimes inconsistent. If, using my walkthrough, something doesn’t work you may need to change the selected action and try again. For example to enter rooms sometimes you need to walk and other times use the hand to open the door.

   I’m also not sure if all the steps are necessary but as some actions unlock parts of the game to create the story line I haven’t deleted steps just to make the above more concise so they may be some to-ing and fro-ing.

   A bit gruesome at times but an enjoyable game with puzzles and good storyline.

   If you have the time and moon set correctly Show

   the time is 11:30 the middle of the 3 mentioned and the moon is the red one just showing the last quarter

   you need to exit the close up scene and then push the clock to reveal something. This is given in the book in the library as one of the two possible clock types so not totally illogical.

   This is the first game when I’ve had to read all the screen info given. Usually it’s enough to scan and extract dates and other details without reading the blurb.

   at first, it REALLY creeped me out! lol!

   (of course, it didn’t help that I was playing with the lights down low and expecting axe wielding maniacs to jump out,

   Regarding the clock: Show

   The (red) moon needs to be covered more than the book shows. The book shows maybe 1/4 of the moon’s lower right side, but drag the moon so that about 3/4 gets covered and it’ll be good.

      walk to the right, so you can see the closet and dresser. The statue is on the dresser, next to the lamp.

    if you click on the right side of the screen you will walk to the right side of the bed you will see a closet door and a dresser on top of the dresser is a white statue you can use on the Door knob not the door

    found the body and looked at the face, but I didn’t find cause of death, just a possibly missing eye. I don’t think I’ve missed any of the storyline, but when I go to the attic, no one’s there.

    What do I still need to do?

    Did you click action on his eye Emma will say something about what she sees also did you find the Patient files in the filing cabinet next to the fuse box. They can be opened with small key or crow bar.

    Hello! I’m new to this game, and with your help I just solved a riddle, which I usually hate in games like that. It’s the safe :)

    First I recommend to go to the library. You’ll find a book open on the table. Read it and you will learn something about safes from that brand you find at the hall.
    The book shows you, for what you have to look and how to use the safe-wheel (?)
    To find what you need, you have to go (back) to the attic, pick up a picture and read the text on it. It gives you the information you need and now you can go and open the safe with a little patience ;)

    Have fun – I will go on now to my next mission: mixing a tinkture ;)

    I have just finished playing Dark Visions. Great game and not too long.
    You can save at any time.
    I did not need any walkthrough. It is quite easy with all the clues.
