YonaYona – Escape from Room 3

Escape from Room 3 is another Japanese Room Escape game from YonaYona where your mission is to find a way to open the exit door, which is unsurprisingly locked. This one features two different endings, and should keep you busy for a while. Be nice with the frog… Have fun!

  I’m stuck also. Have everything in inventory except the last wooden block. Can’t decipher the clues in book and on back of paper on desk. Think language barrier is an issue too.

    Front cover with frog and beer, back cover with lobster in tank. Also, the diagrams in the book relates to the panda

    get the stamp thing (looks like a roller), then open the mirror up (drawers and star code), run the stamp across the red, then run it across the blank paper.

Strange one this: all the Japanese writing was a red herring because you didn’t have to use any of it. Which makes me wonder what it actually said.

  Here it is: A Japanese-through. While you can figure the game out without reading any of it, the clues are helpful.
  
  Caveat: I used dictionaries and machine translators. I don’t know much Japanese.
  
  In one of the opening screens, there are two buttons. I *think* it’s asking your age. The first button says “not yet 20” and the second says “20 or older.” I don’t think it makes a difference which you push.
  
  The paper on the desk says something like, “Look for little letters.”
  
  In the book:
  page 1: “Panda cannot fly. It’s just a panda.”

  page 3: Something about a starry night sky and looking up to see stars. Show
  
  Actually, in this case it’s one star. Japanese doesn’t use plurals, so you can’t tell by the translation.

  Zoom in on the starry night picture. There is a spot at the top on the screen so you can look at the ceiling. Notice which animal is missing and go and click on its paw or something (not sure what needed to be done). For me the cat was missing. Once you have all 4 animals highlighted, you can use the stick to click on the star which illuminates a card on the floor. Pick it up then when you go out, you get happy end.

Wow, that was hard. Here’s a WALKTHROUGH, for anyone who’s lost.

Door view: Show

At the bottom of the door is a STICK. Click the pot with the tree to see a clue.

Desk view: Show

The right drawer of the desk has CARD 2/4. (The two drawers under the desk are empty.) Notice what’s on the desk: a tree with bows in it, a lamp you can’t turn on, and a paper you can turn over, but it’s blank on the back.
Look behind the picture for CARD 1/4. You can’t do anything with the cabinet yet, but notice that you need a four-letter code for the left door and a key for the box behind the right door. On top is a frog with a key you can’t get.

Back of the room: Show

Zoom in on the cat and open the case it’s holding to get a YELLOW KEY. Open the fridge under it and take out a BEER. Don’t waste energy; close the fridge when you’re done! (No, you don’t have to, but I like that you can.)
Zoom in on the table. Pick up the BLANK CARD and turn over the cards on the table. We can’t do anything with them yet.
Back out and zoom in on the high shelf. Use the stick to get the LEAF TILE. Where did it go? Check behind the table, on the left. The crab has it! It you try to get it, the crab pinches at you. So use the stick to grab the CRAB and then get the tile.

Aquarium view: Show

Here’s something that looks like an old card catalog with a glass panel on top. If you play with the drawers, you’ll notice they’re all empty, but you can only open one in each section at a time. Next to the glass panel is a spinning panda. Zoom in on the bookshelf. Behind it is CARD 4/4. Take out the green book and click through it. Notice the happy frog with beer on the front and the crab sitting on the rock on the back. Get CARD 3/4 from inside. The page with the diagrams refers to the panda. The page after it talks about stars in the night sky.

With those clues: Show

Optional: Turn around and click on the picture of the starry night. Click the top of the screen to look up and see a star. (Keep coming back to watch what happens.)
Go back to the aquarium view and put the crab in the tank.
Zoom in on the PANDA. Click the button and it stops spinning so you can take it. View it (with “about item” button) and click its legs. Does this remind you of the diagram yet? Put it back and push the button. Whee! Turn right, pick it up, and take the BOW TIE TILE from it.
Turn right again and zoom in on the frog. Put the beer can on his lilypad (and open it to make him happy). Take the RED KEY.

Getting more stuff: Show

Use the red key to open the box in the cabinet below and get a STAMP ROLLER. Use the yellow key on the desk drawer to get a LIGHTBULB. I bet you know what to do with that. Put it in the lamp, then turn the lamp on (two different views). Now you can see more stuff on the paper. Take the MAGNIFYING GLASS and write down the four shapes. You’ll need to find these around the room and read the small letter on each one. Turn the paper over to find out that the door is north.

Four-letter code: Show

The musical note is right on the paper that tells you to look for the little letters. Examine it with the magnifying glass. Now find the other three shapes. The first one is a frog’s foot, so go to the frog you gave the beer to. The cross is on one of the cards on the back table. Now go to the pile of food on the floor on the aquarium side of the room. Unstack it until you see a box with a candy on it. There’s your last letter. Turn around and enter the letters into the cabinet door and open it (without zooming out). You get a PAW PRINT TILE.

Remember the clue behind the plant pot? The four areas on it represent the four areas of this cabinet. In each area, find the clue card (the set of 4 in your inventory) with the same color star. This tells you which drawer of that section to open. When you’ve opened the right four, the glass on top opens to reveal an ink pad.

Zoom in on the top of the cabinet and use the stamp roller on the ink pad. Now view the blank paper in your inventory and use the stamp roller on it. You get a series of triangles.

You’ll use them to get the flower picture off the north wall. Click the black triangles in the corners in the order on your card.

Now you can see indentations for tiles with the letters in them. Does NEWS make you think of anything (besides current events)? You only have three tiles, though, so back out. Find the WATER TILE on the back of the picture, which is now on the floor.

The letters in the indentations represent the cardinal directions. The tiles represent things from each side of the room. Remember that the door is north (from the back side of the paper on the desk) and match the tiles to things on every side of the room. Put the tiles in the correct indentations and hit OK to get a BLUE KEY. Use it to open the door and go out for the normal end.

For happy end (thanks, Scout88): Show

Before you leave (before or after opening the door), go to the picture of stars at night. Click on the top of the screen to look at the ceiling. There’s a star with animal pictures around it. You need to do something to the four animals in the room to make their pictures show up:
Frog – open the beer can.
Cat – put its paw down.
Crab – put it in the aquarium.
Panda – make it fly. (You had to do this to finish the game.)
When all the animals are there, use the stick to push the star. It will light up, and when you zoom out, there’s a PICTURE on the floor. Pick it up and leave.
