  9. fay says:

is anybody there to help me?

  10. Jay says:

OK knob is on wall ladder is hung how do I go down to the basement?

  11. Jay says:

NM, looks like you need both halves of the mold to go down (this game has too many nosensical rules).

  12. *.* says:

There’s probably not anybody left here to help. I never figured out how to bounce the coin off the bed, though I could tell that’s what you were supposed to do. So I never did see any kind of electronic calendar that was supposed to be on the windowsill to the left of the bed, and I never got to use the cards.
I just used the number codes in the computer so I could see the rest of the game. I hate games that have all those numbers you have to figure out. I never would have finished this game without all the comments and walkthroughs. I definitely would have given up.
I liked the design of the game but the puzzle elements were too confusing and frustrating.

Here’s a walkthrough of sorts. I haven’t figured out the knob thing; sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t.

For me, I had to mess everything up and make sure the first aid kit was open before I was able to get the knob. Dunno if that’s really what allowed me to get the knob, but I suppose it’s worth a try. Honestly, I think the randomness of getting the knob is a bunch of crap–I hate it when games try to be cheap like that. Nice graphics, but poor execution. :(

  15. mr. beer says:

You can only open 1 of the bed’s drawers…

  16. mr. beer says:

OUT!! Hard one… I liked it. The only thing I dislike was tha randomness for getting the knob, otherwise was nice… tough but nice!

  17. m says:

    where are this #!%#%#@% knob??????????????????

  18. hermann says:

There is no randomness here. As thumb-rule you can say:

  19. a little birdy says:

The key to getting the knob is first straighten up the room, then one by one open each drawer/door, followed by checking the box for the note, then closing the drawer/door and moving to the next one. If the note does NOT appears in the box then that door or drawer needs to be open in order to get the knob. For me only one of the night stand drawers needed to be open as well as just the sock drawer everything else needed to be open. It will take time but that is the way to figure out which needs to be open and which needs to be closed.

  20. J says:

Hermann, if your theory is true, then how do you explain how I got the knob by changing the date on the calendar, and NOTHING else? Literally: I had everything open, mussed up, etc. No knob. On a whim, I changed the date, and went straight to the box again, and tada: knob.

I think there’s some sort of randomizer going on, independent of all the other factors. It’ll only give you the knob if you’ve BOTH messed things up sufficiently AND tried the box the correct (random) number of times.

    Stupid game, altogether.

  21. Reka says:

J, you must have done something else as well, because I can get the knob without doing the coin on the bed thing, i.e. there is no calendar to change.

I just tested it: restarted the game. Put code in pad by fake door. (Didn’t peel off the door.) Got the stepladder, but closed the cabinet back up. Got the shoehorn, leaving both doors of shoe cabinet open. Opened all four bottom drawers in kitchen. Opened two kitchen cabinet doors – the ones on the left as you’re looking down on them, i.e. the two where you *don’t* find a card. Clicked twice on the bedspread (the pillows start out mussed). Opened the bottom drawer of the nightstand. Used the stepladder & shoehorn to get the bathroom key. Opened both bottom drawers in that bookshelf. Opened top right bureau drawer (the one with the anally-folded black & white underwear). Opened both wardrobe doors. Opened the bathroom door with the key. Window shade starts out open, so didn’t need to do anything with it. Went to magic box, and ta-da: knob. You’ll notice that that was the first and only time I tried opening the box, so it’s not a matter of trying it some random number of times.

I’m not saying it’s not a highly annoying game mechanism, because it is, but it’s not random.

  22. Kim says:

Thanks as usual for everyone’s help. I feel like a KNOB after how long it took me to get the dang thing! Was an ok game besides that part.

  23. J says:

Reka, I’m not saying that the calendar thing is a necessary part of the magic formula. It probably isn’t. But it was the ONLY difference between the two tries. Really. Hence my belief in a random element.

Another time, I had everything open & mussed, but no knob. So I closed a few drawers and opened them again, arriving at the SAME EXACT IDENTICAL state as before — and tada, *&%$ knob.

So either it’s not purely state-dependent (as in, it matters what order you do things), or it’s random. Given how I’ve been unable to come up with an order of doing things that works consistently, I’m strongly leaning toward random.

  24. J says:

“You’ll notice that that was the first and only time I tried opening the box, so it’s not a matter of trying it some random number of times.”

So your random number happened to be 1. I just did what you said, and no knob.

  25. rocket boy (AKA Dylan) says:

how do you make the coin bounce on the bed I can’t DO IT

  26. Julien says:

For the knob, that works perfectly ! :

    Thanks hermann ;)

  27. JS says:

Great game, the missing point for the Knob… the blind has to either be white, or returned to white from black when using the other information. Changing the date and going back to red light will take care of this. This is the missing point from the walkthrough.

    Thanks All

  28. reece says:

Someone tell me exactly where the shoe horn is? i checked all the shoes in the top drawer and even inside the cabnet! but i still can’t find it!

  29. Lesterly says:

Barhghhh! the knob sucks!! i do not like the knob. th rest of the game is fine though.

to get the knob i had the bed messed up as far as it would go, and everything open (including 1st aid box) except for the cupboard in the kitchen that is in the bottom right corner of you screen .

  30. ... says:

how do i get the ladder on the bookcase?

im done trying to get the damn knob

  35. Evillyn says:

    Find the knob:

    Good luck

    • Kirsten says:

Evelyn, what you said about the blind and stuff (date jan33) only gives me the note when made sure the room was tidy, every time i tried. So sorry, also random?

  36. Evillyn says:

Sorry, i forgot to tell this:

  37. Jada says:

I have opened EVERYTHING, including a gate to hell which i seamed to have fallen into since i can’t get the knob! Im about ready to go saw my doorknob off and scan it into the game! AAGGGHHHH…haha! Frustrating!!!

  45. shay says:

Some higher-power really doesn’t want me to get that knob or something. Im giving it 10 more minutes and if i cant get it then i’ll donate my computer to charity or something because im losing my marbles over this :D

  46. shay says:

So, what we have here, aparently, is a poorly programmed game that works “occasionally” for some, and never for others ( Knob issue ). Well, someone give me a description of the basement since i’ll never know what it looks like. I knew there was a reason I buy American cars!

  47. narissa says:

i cant go down the ladder into the basement. what up? help please?

  48. Selenite says:

Got a beaker, 3 cards, a piece of paper in the closet to the right of the TV, a coin, some handle bar thingy, and I peeled the door off….

  49. Selenite says:
