The Hermit

The Hermit is a nice looking Room Escape game from Chris Daemon. You play a little robot that was left alone in an underground facility.

“Something knocked me out. Why is the power off?

It looks like the cave’s falling in. I must find out what’s happening outside!

The Generator is out – I’ll have to reboot it.”

   Walkthrough:
   Show

   Click on the physics worktable. Notice that the H2SO4 causes the coil to become magnetic. The other tables don’t tell you much now. Click back, then core.

   There’s a locked door. Notice the map in the upper right hand corner. Click it, the code is there. 3 – 15 – 18 – 5. Input as: 315185. Enter the core.

   Can’t go in the generator room yet, and the lift doesn’t work so go to the Other Side, then into the Chemistry Lab. Click on the Acids table. Remember the H2SO4 from before? Click that bottle and the electrode will move over. Then click on the Magnets Table and flip the switch. The big magnet lifts revealing Hint #4. Remember it.

   Click on the piece of paper on the floor besides the Acid Table. It’s Hint #3. Click on the paper stuck to the far wall next to the safe for Hint #2. Remember hints.

   Click on the safe. The puzzle here is to rotate all the pieces such that they all the pipes connect together, while beginning out of the upper right corner and exiting out the lower left corner. Make sure there are no trails leading off into nowhere. It’s easiest to start at the corners and edges. Opening the safe gets you Hint #1 and a red ball.

   Click on Extra Door. You have all the clues for this puzzle:
   #1: Red is only next to blue
   #2: Blue is not next to purple
   #3: Green is on the right of blue
   #4: Yellow is between green and purple
   The sequence is: red blue green yellow purple

   Go through the door and now you are in the Generator Room. Click on the door. Anyone familiar with the bucket and pond series of riddles might recognize this one. Essentially, you need to charge each of the 3 bars with the number of segments listed on the bottom. You want all the number to read 0. To move the charge around, you first charge either the left or right bar. Then to transfer charge, push the transfer button under the one you want the charge to come from, then the transfer button under the destination. Note it will move as much of the charge as it can every time.

   Solution:
   Bars are listed as left, center, and right.
   1. Charge right bar
   2. Transfer right to center
   3. Charge left bar
   4. Transfer left to center
   5. Transfer center to right
   6. Press charge button on both right and left to clear the charge completely
   7. Charge left bar
   8. Transfer left to right
   9. Press charge under right bar to clear it
   10. Transfer left to right
   11. Charge left bar

   Great, the lights are back on. Move back to the room you started in to take note of some things. Click on the Balance Worktable. Notice three blue balls = one red ball. Remember that red ball in you inventory? Keep remembering it…Move to the Biology Worktable and click the button. Notice how the plants grow when light hits it. Leave this room.

   Click on the Lift. Click middle button to take you to the second floor. Go into Bio Lab and Click onto Window Shutters. Still remembering that red ball? Move four blue balls onto one side, leaving one on the other. Click on your red ball, then the side that only has one blue ball. The windows open!

   Get back in the lift and push top button which takes you to the third floor. Go into Bio Lab. The light made the plants grow in this area so now you can go into the Train Platform. Board the Train and click on Train Console.

   You have a mess of wires to clean up. I’m not entirely sure what exactly the puzzle is here…I figured it out using trial and error. Please post if you know.
   The left wires I numbered 1 – 8, top to bottom. The right plugs I numbered 1 – 5, top to bottom. I will tell you which number wires go to which number plug. You will need to attach two wires to some plugs. To do that, click first on BOTH number wires, then on the plug.
   Solution:
   Right plug #1: left wires 4 and 5
   Right plug #2: left wire 2
   Right plug #3: left wires 6 and 7
   Right plug #4: left wire 8
   Right plug #5: left wires 1 and 3

   Now hit the go button, and enjoy the ending!

   I can’t figure out the puzzle generator…

    You need to get as many blocks of light as the numbers show, so all the numbers are 0 and green.

    i can’t do the generator puzzle!!!! i feel so dumb too! i only get two out of three done! HELP!

    There are several ways to solve the generator puzzle, this is one of them:
    Show

    1. Start to press left charge button, they look like 4 0 0.
    2. Then press left transfer button to make it blue.
    3. Press right transfer button to get: 1 0 3.
    4. Press right charge button (that one deletes everything on the right one, so it looks like: 1 0 0.
    5. Transfer from left to middle so it is: 0 1 0.
    6. Repeat steps 1-5.
    (they will look like 410, 113, 110, 020.
    7. Repeat 1-4.(so they look like: 420, 123, 120)
    8. Repeat 2-3. (they will be 021)
    9. Press left charge button: 421.
