Skyboard

SkyboardSkyboardSkyboard is the latest game developed by the Italian team from Silent Bay Studios and has just been released on Miniclip.

Skyboard is a fast 3D racing game involving four skyboard riders over the city rooftops.

First of all, choose your rider and then enter a new tournament. A tournament is divided in nine different races in three categories:
– Competition: try to be the first one to the finish line.
– Collection: collect as much rings as you can as fast as you can.
– Elimination: At the end of every lap, the last rider is eliminated.

Simply use the arrow keys to control your rider, avoid the green toxic smokes that slow you, and try to use speed boosts and shortcuts to defeat your opponents.

Let’s go straight to the point. If the game is suited for a young audience, the team working on Skyboard did an absolutely incredible job with all the work they’ve put together here. 3D graphics and animations are breathtaking and the game runs very smoothly. The slow-motion sequences during the race are very impressive and are a nice addition to the game, at least for the first few minutes; after that, I recommend you turn the video camera off in the main menu to keep your attention on the race.

Overall, Skyboard is a new truly amazing racing game that you can play for free in your favorite browser. Have fun!

TG Motocross 2 : better than the original!

Categories: Action, Flash, Free, Games, Online, Sports   3 comments - August 14, 2006

TG Motocross 2TG Motocross 2TG Motocross 2 is out! “The popular dirt bike time trial series continues with fresh new challenges”. Here is what David Thorburn wrote about his first famous TG Motocross sequel released today on his website teagames.com.

Thorburn didn’t only design new levels: he revamped the graphics, and more important, make the game much easier to play than the original episode. The result is a motorbike that is much more fun and less tricky to ride, and I would definitely recommend this one to occasional gamers.

You still control your trial rider with the arrow keys: up to accelerate and down to brake; right and left arrows to lean forward and backward respectively. Use down and right keys at the same time to lean forward while riding to climb steep; lean backward while riding for extra speed by using up and left keys at the same time.

With 7 levels available and 4 more coming soon, TG Motocross 2 is better than the original in every way, and really deserves a try!

Have fun!

Show Jumping

Show JumpingShow JumpimgShow Jumping is the latest game designed by Lucas Meijer, the Dutch freelance developer behind Supersonic RC. This brand new 3D show jumping simulation was released a few days ago on Miniclip.com.

In this new 3D Shockwave game, your goal is to ride a horse and get to the finish line as fast as possible, jumping cleanly over any obstacle in a limited time. You control your jumper with the arrow keys, and you jump by pressing the space bar. Hold the space bar down if you want to jump higher. For every obstacle knocked down, a 5- second penalty is added to your total course time.

Including 2 training levels and 4 different courses, Show Jumping is a very well done 3D simulation; and if completing the first and the second levels shouldn’t be too difficult, you will probably spend much more time attempting to complete the last two ones.

With superb graphics and really smooth animations, this game is so far and by far the best Show Jumping simulation I ever played. Have fun!

Down Hill Duel

Categories: 3D, Action, Advergames, Free, Games, Online, Shockwave, Sports    - July 25, 2006

Down Hill DuelDown Hill DuelDown Hill Duel is the latest Shockwave game released by Inboxgames Digital and is a promotional game for the UK clothing brand Fat Face.

In this amazing 3D bike race simulation, you ride a mountain bike and have to get to the finish line as fast as possible, pulling tricks and collecting Fat Face logos as you go to increase your speed boost. Control your biker with the arrow keys and use the space bar to jump/boost.

The best part of the game is the multiplayer option: you can create your own league, invite some friends and then race against them as their top race is played back. In the solo mode, you can also race against your own top race biker: this implementation is really helpful in your attempts to set a new personal record, and adds a lot to the game’s value.

On the downside, there is only one track (with two different routes) available in the game and that’s probably why you won’t spend hours on your bike!

Overall, Down Hill Duel is a superb game, recommended for all 3D simulations lovers, and it definitely deserves a try. Have fun!

Stuntstup

StuntstupAlmost a century ago, diving entered the Olympic Games as a new event. Diving developed in Europe in the 17th century, when gymnasts practiced their acrobatics over water. Now you can safely practice diving with  Stuntstup,  a Flash diving simulation created by the Norwegian ad agency Agens.

Stuntstup-1Stuntstup-2Stuntstup-3The object of the game is to perform a series of three dives, and get for each dive the highest score as possible from the judges. The final score for each dive depends on the level of difficulty, the height of the diver at the apex of the dive, with extra height resulting in a higher score and angle of entry into the water, the straighter you enter into the water, the better.

Stuntstup-5Stuntstup-4You control your diver with the space bar and the arrow keys. Press the space bar to start running on the plate-form, press the space bar a second time to take off and then use the arrow keys and the space bar to perform as many somersaults or twists as possible (you will have to figure out how to make the best combination of movements).

With appealing graphics and a really entertaining soundtrack, Stuntstup is a very original and well done diving simulation, perfect for a hot summer day!

Base Jumping

Categories: Flash, Free, Games, Online, Sports   8 comments - July 4, 2006

Base JumpingBase JumpingBase jumping is a quite dangerous sport using a parachute to jump from buildings, bridges, or natural formations like cliffs. Base jumping is also the latest game developed by Martijn Kunst. Released in April, the game became an instant hit in the online gamers community.

The object is to progress through five different leagues by defeating other base jumpers in a three-round competition! Try to be the quickest to jump when the “Go” appears and then try to deploy your parachute just on time to be the fastest on the ground. Use the space bar to jump and press again on the space bar to open your parachute.

If you deploy your parachute a bit too late, you will be injured. Check the health-meter at the top of the game’s window and don’t let it be “all red or you’ll be all dead”! Buy some med kits between two leagues and eventually defeat the King to become the best Base Jumper.

Base Jumping is so simple to get into that the game is accessible to all ages. Graphics and animations are all nicely polished and pleasing for the eye. The sound effects are also well suited to the game and the music is very relaxing. The simplest games are often the best ones: Base Jumping is one of those games!

Have fun!

Pitch ‘n’ Putt

Categories: Flash, Free, Games, Online, Sports   2 comments - June 28, 2006

Pitch 'n' PuttPitch 'n' PuttPitch ‘n’ Putt is the latest game just released by the talented David Thorburn on his website, Teagames.com. The object here is to complete a challenging 9-Hole Par 35 golf course, as fast and as much under par as possible.

Press the space bar to start your shot. Press the space bar again to set the power and press the space bar a last time to set the loft. It sounds easy to play, but like almost every golf game, it is pretty tricky to control: you’ll need some practice and it will probably useful to play the whole course once just to get used to. Don’t forget to use the arrow keys to check the fairway and locate the green, the bunkers and other obstacles that can affect your shots.

As always, Pitch ‘n’ Putt features the same realistic physics and animation as other Thorburn games. My only complain is that there is no global view of the fairway (a map in the upper right corner of the screen, such as the one implemented in TG Motocross would have been definitely helpful), leading to some confusion during your first shots.

Overall, Pitch ‘n’ Putt is a simple and elegant golf simulation designed by David Thorburn, perfect for a ten minute break!

Have fun!

One On One – Jp – Pepere.org

Categories: Flash, Free, Games, Online, Sports   1 comment - June 8, 2006

One On OneOne On OneOne On One is the latest game released by the French developer JP from Pepere.org. Following Soccer challenge released three weeks ago (and previously reviewed here), One On One is the second game designed by JP to celebrate the next soccer world cup which will start tomorrow in Germany.

In One On One, your avatar is a soccer player who will have to defeat four different goalkeepers. Use your mouse to control your player on the field and try to score goals. For each goal you score one point. The goalkeeper scores one point each time he catches the ball within the penalty area. To defeat a goalkeeper, score 7 points first!

A training option is included in the nicely done tutorial. Graphics and animations are great but what makes this game interesting is definitely the difficulty, very well managed and increasing progressively: if it is pretty easy to defeat the first goalkeeper, it is much more tricky to defeat the last one, a famous Dyno!

Another really nice implementation is the save and load scores option, which allows you to save and update your high score each time you defeat a goalkeeper. Don’t forget to register before playing if you want to save your high score and improve it later.

If you like playing soccer, you should definitely enjoy playing with One On One for a while. Recommended. Have fun!

TG Motocross – David Thorburn – Teagames.com

Categories: Flash, Free, Games, Online, Sports   1 comment - June 6, 2006

TG MotocrossTG MotocrossTG Motocross is the latest game released by David Thorburn available on his website Teagames.com. The object here is to complete a trial race divided in eight different stages as fast as possible.

You control your trial rider with the arrow keys: up to accelerate and down to brake; right and left arrows to lean forward and backward respectively. Use down and right keys at the same time to lean forward while riding to climb steep; lean backward while riding for extra speed by using up and left keys at the same time.

Designs and physics are amazing in TG Motocross and the game looks great. A training option is available: some stages are really hard to complete, and the rider is pretty tricky to control (especially in the last stages like Diablo Canyon). You will need a bit – if not a lot – of practice to get used to it.

Another nice implementation is the map in the upper right window, showing your progress and the next obstacles. On the downside, there is no sound to add intensity to the game, and TG Motocross would have been probably more entertaining with a more powerful motorcycle.

Having said that, just like several other games designed by David Thorburn, TG Motocross is a new challenging and addictive game. Have fun!
