High Tea, by Preloaded (1066, Trafalgar Origins, CDX, Launchball) is a real-time strategy game where you “play an independent British smuggler selling opium in China’s Pearl Delta.

Buy cheap and sell high to make a profit, but make sure you also obtain enough tea to keep Britain happy. You have ten years before the opium wars begin – can you make your fortune?

Based on historical events, this game also shines a light on a questionable episode in the history of the British Empire.”

Trafalgar Origins

Categories: Action, Flash, Free, Games, Online, Strategy    - May 7, 2010

Take command of a Royal Navy frigate and her crew in Trafalgar Origins, an historical naval game created by Preloaded (CDX, Launchball)!

“England, two hundred years ago, was a dangerous and volatile place to live.

In those days, escaping into a bottle of grog might have seemed like a good idea, but thanks to men like Andrew Miller, the Royal Navy’s most notorious press-ganger, you were all too likely to awake
from your stupor and find your self at sea aboard a Royal Navy Ship-of-the-Line with the full force of the combined French and Spanish Navies bearing down on you.”

Use the WASD keys or the arrow keys to move the ship. To fire your cannons, left click on the side from which you want to shoot.

Trafalgar Origins is a very nice and addictive game, but it freezes from time to time on the loading screen, and your only option is to refresh the page. You’ve been forewarned!

Launchball

Categories: Flash, Free, Games, Online, Puzzle   83 comments - October 5, 2007

LaunchballLaunchballLaunchball is a new physics-based puzzle game created by the folks at Preloaded (do you remember CDX?) for the Science Museum in London to promote their new Launchpad gallery that will open its doors on Saturday 24 November.

The object here is to use different type of blocks and place them on the grid so that when the ball is released, it will reach the “goal”.

Each type of blocks has its own characteristics. To display them at the bottom of the game window, simply move your mouse over a block. The blocks available to complete each level are located in the bottom left corner of the game window. Click and drag them on the grid, and then click the test button to see the result.

Similar to games like The Incredible Machine, Crazy Machines or Blueprint, Lauchball is nicely designed and features 30 stages, 29 types of blocks, 3 levels of difficulty and a level editor that allows you to create and share your own levels!

Have fun!

Update: Launchball got dugg and you may experience some downtimes. If so, please come back later.

Update 2: “Sorry! Launchball has been a bit of a victim of its own success – we have had to take it down temporarily. Watch this space…” That’s what you can read now on the game’s page. So again, please come back later!

Update 3: 10-05-07 – Launchball is live – again!

CDX

Categories: Flash, Free, Games, Online, Point'n'click   133 comments - September 22, 2006

CDXCDXCDX is a brand new Point’n’Click adventure game developed by the UK studio Preloaded.

“A sacrificial blade forged at the birth of the Roman Empire holds the key to an ancient and bloody conspiracy that threatens to erupt into the present day.

Stranded in 21st century Tunis, Adam Foster is plunged into a world of greed, betrayal and murder, centered on a Roman blade he supplied to the BBC’s ‘Ancient Rome’ series. But who has the blade and can the killers be stopped?”.

That’s how the story starts. The first of four episodes was released yesterday on www.bbc.co.uk/history/ and the others should follow soon. You will have to give your email to get a secret code to save your progress and being informed of the date of release of the next episodes (you can also play as a guest, but you won’t be able to same the game).

What caught my attention and got me excited about this game is the unique interactive-video interface used in this game. CDX is closer to a movie than a game, with real actors (Mark Letheren is Adam) playing the characters involved in this mysterious adventure.

Note that a broadband connection is essential to play this game and that “young viewers may find some scenes disturbing”. Some of you will probably find this first episode far too short, but that being said, CDX is a truly amazing experience and a must try! Have fun!

Update: in order to be able to play this game you must launch the application from a UK-based computer! So bad for the rest of the World! Sounds crazy, no?

Update 2: You can now play CDX from all over the world. Links updated. Thanks Pinkie!
