OthexoOthexoIt’s no secret that I’m a big fan of the board game Othello. When I started FreeGamesNews, my first reflex was to find a good Othello Reversi online game; I found a game called Cyrano, with a very – VERY – strong AI, that is almost impossible to beat in  master mode!

When I discovered Othexo, the latest game from Ben Leffler based on Othello, I was exited!

“With a twist in the board format, the addition of an optional 3rd combatant and a new set of rules – Othexo is sure to challenge even the most tactically minded player.

Whether you go for the early points or take the strongest positions on the board, every game is a testing battle for Othexo superiority!”

Ben Leffler is well known for his popular series Exmortis, but not for being a puzzle games designer. As a matter of fact, Othexo is a very good game, and the AI in hard mode with two cpu opponents is strong enough to defeat you most of the time! Or may be it’s just me…

Anyway, I love this game.

Have fun!

Exmortis 2Exmortis 2Launched in March 2006, Exmortis 2 was an instant hit. This sequel to Exmortis continues the story started in 2004 by the author, Ben Leffler.

“The hordes of Exmortis swept across the earth. A plague unlike anything humanity had ever encountered. In their final stand, a handful of mankind´s last survivors stood their ground – defiant of their inevitable fate. And in those last moments as death took these brave souls, a stranger passing in the distance put his plans in motion.”

As mentioned at Lazylaces, the game starts as you arrive “at the Resistance Safe house, an old disbanded church sitting in a wide open plain in the American country. The sky is stained a crimson hue, a phenomenon that coupled the arrival of the Exmortis on the Earth. Someone has spray painted “Where is your God now?” across the face of the church. You remember the backlash against religion and how it was nothing but false hope and old stories to keep humanity and values in retrospect. You remember how the catalyst was the Vatican falling victim to the marauding demons when they swept through Europe those months ago.

You silently swallow as you step towards the front door of the church in hope that you will at least find some survivors of the resistance slaughter inside…”

If you didn’t play Exmortis 2 already, do it now!

ExmortisExmortisExmortis is a very scary Point’n’Click adventure game developed by Ben Leffler. Released in 2004, Exmortis was the first Flash made by the author.

The pitch: “You wake up in the woods with no memory of how you got there. Nightmares of blood and screams still echo through your mind. It’s late and it’s cold – unless you can find shelter fast, you won’t last the night. You spot a house in a clearing up ahead and left with no choice – you decide to shelter there for the night. Soon after you begin to realize that death is a welcome choice compared to what lies waiting for you inside…”

Goliath the Soothsayer

Goliath the SoothsayerGoliath the SoothsayerRoom Escape games are becoming very popular these days, and more of them are designed to promote products or services.

Developed by Ben Leffler, Goliath the Soothsayer is one of them: it was launched at to promote the release of the fourth studio album of The Mars Volta, an American rock group founded in 2001.

“It started a week ago… My brother had been missing for the better half of a year and we had all but given up any hope of finding him alive. It was as if he just suddenly disappeared from the face of the earth leaving everything behind.

During the first night in my brother’s house, strange noises and dark whispers plagues my sleep. I remember running in my vain attempts to escape the horror nestled deep in my dreams. And I awoke the following morning – not in the bed to which I felt victim to exhaustion – but on the cold wooden floor of the attic…I’ve been here in the attic for days…

All that I know is that I must now escape this prison and find a way to release myself and my brother’s soul from the bondage of this evil.

Somewhere in this house, the answer waits for me…”

If I remember well, this is not the first time you have to find a way to escape from an attic

Have fun!
