Snake Classic

Categories: Arcade, Flash, Free, Games, Online   3 comments - September 7, 2006

Snake ClassicSnake ClassicSnake Classic is the latest game release by the Russian designer Arseniy Shklyaev, famous for his Rumble Ball and Orbox successful series. This game is a new variant of Snake, the famous video game that came out in the mid-to-late 1970s.

The object of the game is to control creature resembling a snake that moves around on a playfield, picking up food, trying to avoid hitting its own tail or the walls that surround the playing area. Each time the snake eats a piece of food, its tail grows longer, making the game increasingly difficult.

You control the direction of the snake’s head with the arrow keys or with your mouse (check the game options–8 directions are implemented-much easier with the keyboard!), and the snake’s body follows. You can’t stop the snake from moving while the game is in progress.

Snake Classic includes 50 levels, with many obstacles to avoid in later levels. The game is fully customizable, with one hundred skins for your snake to choose from, 4 different speeds, and a variable number of pieces of food to collect to reach the next level (10 to 100 per level)! A save/load option is also available between levels in order to save your progress.

Everything was developed very carefully in this game: graphics, animations, sounds, music, everything is very polished and nothing’s missing. By far the best Flash Snake game ever made!

Have fun!

Warp Forest

Warp ForestWarp ForestArseniy Shklyaev has just released Warp Forest, a brand new puzzle/skill game, available on his website Gamebalance. The object of Warp Forest is to collect with your car all of the yellow keys located in each level to activate the exit gate and advance to the next one.

Use the arrow keys to control your car and press “D” key to straighten car’s direction. Shoot at the bunches of trees by pressing “A” key and collect hidden special charges. Use those power-ups wisely by pressing “S” key.

You will also find some keycards to open locked doors. Drive onto keys or power-ups with your car to collect them.

This game is an interesting mix of a puzzle and action game. You will have to be clever to solve most of the 30 levels. You will also have to drive safely to avoid many of your enemies’ projectiles.

Graphics look great in Warp Forest, and a nice feature is that you can save your progress in five different slots, meaning you won’t have to play any level more than once if you want to end the game. You can also turn off music and sounds independently, which can be helpful after a while!

Warp Forest is a new addictive but difficult game designed by Shklyaev. With its 30 different levels, don’t expect to end this one after five minutes!

Have fun!

Rumble Ball

Categories: Flash, Free, Games, Online, Pool    - May 8, 2006

Rumble Ball 4Rumble Ball 4Rumble Ball is a set of four great games developed by the Russian Arseniy Shklyaev. The goal in every opus is to score as many points as you can by hitting colored items with a ball. Both yellow balls and colored cubes score points. The more items you hit at once, the more points will be added to your score. The first item is worth 10 points, the second 20, the third 30, and so on (5, 10, 15, 20 points and so on in RB 3).

You can control the way you hit your ball with your mouse and then click to launch it through obstacles.

There is no limit to the number of times you may hit the ball: having said that, feel free to find the best position without hitting any obstacle, and then pocket as much points as possible on your next shot!

The downside in Rumble Ball 1 and 2 is that you have no control on the ball speed, leading to a real frustration sometimes.

Luckily, in the third and fourth installments of the series, Arsenij has implemented this essential function, leading to a much more enjoyable game play.

Traps, like mines and holes are also another improvement in Rumble Ball 3 and 4: from now on, you will get a penalty of 250 and 500 points respectively if your ball hits a mine or falls in a hole. Even worse, if your ball ends in a hole, you will have to restart the current level from scratch!

Every Rumble Ball game comes with 5 different levels, for a 5 to 10 minutes play time.

With pleasant graphics, nice sounds (especially when getting combos) and an intuitive interface, Rumble Ball is definitely the kind games everybody likes.

Want to play with Rumble Ball?

Pick a number – one, two, three or four – and have fun!

Orbox B

Categories: Flash, Free, Games, Online, Puzzle   33 comments - April 12, 2006

Orbox BOrbox-BOrbox B is a Flash game which combines simplicity and puzzle solving. The goal is to move your little box from the start point to the flashing target, using the four arrows of your keyboard. Once launched, your box will only stop after striking one of the numerous objects you will discover all around the 30 different levels the game offers.

Try to avoid sending your box out of the screen, or you will have to restart the level from the beginning. And if you get stuck, don’t forget the space bar to restart the current level.

Orbox B is the second installment in the Orbox series developed by the Russian Arseniy Shklyaev and is much more fun than the original.

Firstly, it introduces the password option, which means you don’t have to end the 30 levels in a row anymore, thanks to the passwords. This option was missing in Orbox, leading to frustration for players with not so much time to refresh their mind, at work especially.

Secondly, it has improved graphics and very well-designed levels.

Orbox and Orbox B have both 30 levels to complete, and both of them have a little boring music you’ll need to turn off asap if you don’t want to become crazy and stay relax.

Running smoothly, easy to learn, nice and neat, Orbox B is definitely a game you need to try…

Have fun!

ooo

Road BlocksAnd for all gamers addicted to this kind of puzzles, take a look at Road Blocks, from Michael Gagnon and Alex Withrow. It doesn’t look as sweet as Orbox B, but again it has a password system, very useful for players who want to achieve the 22 levels at their own pace.

With more than 80 levels available, you should be able to spend a few hours today trying to reach the next exit !
