Ice Breaker

We are only 5 days into the new year and all Nitrome‘s fans will be pleased to know that Mat and his team has just released a new physics-based puzzle game, Ice breaker!

Your goal here is to save all the frozen vikings by getting them back to their drakkar. To do so, simply click and drag across the ice to cut it and drop the vikings onto the ship.

Use the arrow keys to scroll the map or move your mouse pointer to the edges of the game window.

Ice Breaker offers 40 levels of increasing difficulty, and introduces new elements in later levels, like the “confusing blocks” that can be cut and then “shoot off if they can!”

Most of the levels are not very challenging, but all in all, Ice Breaker is a very entertaining game, so entertaining that Nitrome’s servers are obviously being hammered at the time of writing!

the first time the thing goes around, and when the triangle one goes as far right as it can, cut it. the do the same thing with the others . but only when there swinging. not when they’ve stopped.

Gawd, I hate lvl 29. Cant seem to get past it. Help please?

This one is tricky and basically about luck. Just keep cutting beyond the second “knob” until you get it right and it hits the viking just right to get him in between the rocks.

lvl 18

1. Cut off a pice of the ice straight down on the right side of the rock, this should make the piece of ice move into the boat with the vikings with it.
2. Then cut off the rope stuck to the ice when you’re sure they’re in the boat.

lvl 20

Cut off a piece of the ice on the left side of the rope, this should make the ice go up and hit on of the vikings so he falls down, then you let it swing on until it hits the one on the left side.
Afterwards you must try to make it hit the lower right viking by cutting the ice loose and directing it by cutting towards the viking

Lvl 23

This is one of the must frustrating lvls seeing as it should be easy but you’ve gotta get lucky. Just try having patience and wait for the icebits getting enough speed to hit the boat and then cut the ropes.

This one’s a Bi***
1. Cut the little piece of ice that stops “Greta” (/The fat viking lady) from rolling, this will make the one in the circle of ice roll into the ship.
Then cut off a large chunk of ice below the two remaining vikings. (try making it a little bit “Fatter” next to the viking at the right seeing as he is gonna need a lot of swinging power)
2.Then you must cut through the ice on the right side of the viking closest to the ship, cut as close to the viking as possible! You may have to cut a few chunks more next to him in order to make him swing, when he’s started swinging and is at the right angle, cut him loose from the “knob” from which the ice is swinging, this will make him swing into the boat. Btw, cut as much ice off the knob as you can afterwards so that it doesn’t get in the way.
3. Next you’ll have to cut he ice on the right side of the last viking, this will make the viking swing, and the rest is up to luck and timing when cutting the viking loose so he hits the boat.

I have no idea what to do with level 35? You can’t cut one side of the rope and if you cut the other, the vikings fall in water? Please help????

1. Look at the piece of ice with the pivot. Cut the protrusion on the left side off. The ice will start to swing.
2.Time it and cut the rope on the right side so the wood platform post will land on on the ice on the right side of the pivot (the “rounded” side). The swinging ice will pull the platform .
3. Cut the rope on the left once it is pulled away from the mist. You may have to be quick.

Level 33

This one is a lot of trial and error and getting lucky but here’s a start
1.Cut the two lower “propulsion” ice blocks with one straight cut
2. When you are above the rock face cut the “propulsion” ice on the left side.
3. About when you are flying over the rock face cut the rope for the bird on the far left.
4. When you reach the hanging rock cut the bird on the far right.
5. It may take a couple tries, but with the right timing the birds will fly you right above the boat. Just cut the fat lady and let the viking fall.

Level 30

You can solve this one with timing.
1. When the platform reaches it’s lowest point on the left side cut the left most viking. Let him roll in.
2. When the platform reaches it’s highest point on the left side cut the remaining viking. Let him roll in.
Timing is key, but if you are having problems you can cut small pieces off the bottom of the ice platform on either side to influence the way it rocks (cut ice of the bottom right to make it rise on the right and vice versa)

Ok cut of both the vikings in one go when the left side is at bottommost. then as you feel that they will fall off left side cut the left side of the ice from down cut 70 % from down approx and both should go straight in the boat

1.cut the little left piece like myoma said.
2.cut that vertical piece in a very steep hill starting left.
3.if you’ve done it right, the lower piece will fall left,
and the upper piece will fall right , towards the ship.
4.The tip of the lower piece will get stuck close to the lowest viking
all you have to do then is some careful cutting of the upper piece,
and then the vikings will slide into the boat

1.Cut the right rope of the hanging wood platform with the fat lady at the bottom of the screen
2. Cut the right rope of the hanging wood platform with the fat lady at the top center of the screen and allow her to roll down to the bottom
3. Cut all the remaining rope of the platform at the top and the two ropes of the hanging ramp at top with one cut. The ramp should fall and be sitting on the heads of the two fat ladies at the bottom. The wood plank should slide and fit into the recess in the rock at the right.
4. Cut the (3) fat ladies near the top supporting the ramp and let it slide down into place.
5. Cut the right rope of the hanging platform with the fat lady at the top left
6. Time your cut and snip the left rope of the platform with the viking. Time it so when we falls he will be hit by the fat lady rolling down the hill and knocked into the ship. Hint: watch the little map screen in the upper left hand corner.

level 12cut both the ropes of the hanging ice so it lands on the shocky stuff then cut both sides of the rat’s platform cut the ice above the boat 2. cut down the viking closest totwhere the rat used to be and then cut down the other its quite simple

on 16 you just cut of a piece of ice of the lower right vikings level (but make sure he does not fall off) and then cut the part were the other viking is standing on (make sure you don’t cut him off.
