House is a nice adventure/escape game from Pixelatrix Games.

“What do you do when you find yourself stranded in the middle of a blizzard in June and your car won’t start? There’s nothing to do but hoof it and look for help! A light over that hill looks promising…but will you find succor there, or are you about to sleepwalk into a slowly-unraveling nightmare? There’s only one way to find out, and sitting here reading this isn’t it!”

   My first walkthrough! This is just the bare bones of what you need, if you click around you will see lots of notes with an interesting storyline. You can move notes hidden in books to read the text under them.

   Your car is dead, no matter how much clicking you do, you can’t do anything but turn around and go into the house past the hill.

   Enter the house and go into the room with the blue knight. Note the symbol on the shield, you may want to write it down along with the color of the shield, it will come in handy later. Click on the shield for a closeup. You will see that this is a dining room. On the dining table there are two bowls, one has a key in it. Pick up the key and leave the room.

   Next go into the room with the red knight. Again, note color/symbol. There is a bunch of statues on a table near the door where you came in. Pick up the one in front that is resting directly on the table. In the view with the couches there is a box on the coffee table, behind the fruit. It’s locked and you can’t open it yet. You will need to come back here later but that is all you can do for now. Leave the room and go up the stairs.

   When you reach the top of the stairs, you will be facing a door. Use the key from the dining room in it. In the top drawer of the bedside table is a paper with circles on it. Note the rips in the paper and the position of the green circle. There is a knife hidden at the foot of the bed. There is a hole in the headboard with something missing, you will come back to it later.

   You can explore the screen with the TV and the tarot cards, but there is nothing you need. Go to the scene with the fireplace and click on the red box on the table. You can use the statue you picked up to open this box. Click on the statue after you have put it in and the box will open and give you another key. You can look in the blue box by the door and find a note under the jewels, it mentions a code and that you can find it in the kitchen as well as here, but the code is blacked out, so you can’t read it.

   Leave the room and turn until you see a table and two chairs. In the drawer you will see another ripped paper with circles. Note the rips and which circle is green

   now use your key on the door with the bloody handprint.

   In the view with two chairs, there is a rectangular picture of butterflies. Click on it to get a closeup and then click on the grey butterfly circle in the middle of the picture. It dissapears because you have picked it up. Turn and note the symbol on the violet shield.

   Turn until you get the view with a fireplace. There is a box on the chair in this view, you can look at it. If you bothered to read the note in the study you may realize that this is the safe in question, but you don’t have the code yet. Click the center of the fireplace and you will get a closeup. Pick up the key you see there.

   Go back to the dining room near the blue knight downstairs and use the key you just found on the kitchen door. On your way down you can take note of the symbol on the shield of both the green knight in the second floor hall and the white knight near the exit.

   Go through the kitchen door. On the left is a door to the back yard. you can open it but your character refuses to go out in the cold. On the right is the stairwell to the basement but you need a key to get in and you don’t have that yet.

   Turn right to see a view of a kitchen. Under the sink on the right is a bunch of chemicals and some vinegar, pick up the vinegar. You can also open the door on the left and the four above the sink but you can’t pick up anything else there. You can also look at the radio but you can’t tune it until you have an antenna.

   Turn twice and see a table with a book on it. Click the book and read it. This part is tricky, the code for the safe in the butterfly room is hidden in the words here.

   Turn left and you will see the door back into the dining room, you can look in the cabinet and you can examine the knives, you already found the one that is missing.

   Go out into the dining room and then go out into the hall. Go across the hall into the study. Look at the desk, there is a loose sheet of paper on the desk, click on it and you can see all the words are blacked out. How can you clean it?

   The vinegar from the kitchen.

   Write down the colors in the order of the note.

   Show

   Go back upstairs to the butterfly room and use your code (apocalypse) on the safe you noticed earlier, in the view with the fireplace. The key you pick up looks different. It isn’t the key to a door, but to the box on the coffee table in the study. Open it and get the funny looking gadget inside. Hmmn, where did we see a place to use that?

   In the bedroom at the top of the stairs. Go to the headboard and put the funny looking thing in the hole.

   If you noted the symbols on the knights shields and the order of the colors then this part is easy. Press the symbols that coordinate to the colors in the order given in the note from the desk.

   The order is: Red, Blue, Green, Violet, Yellow, White

   The symbols are:
   First row: violet, blue, red
   Second row: green, yellow, white

   If you number them right to left and top to bottom, the code is 324156

   Get the key inside and use it on the door across from the bathroom. You can go in the bathroom and look at the book inside, it will give you some clues about getting rid of demons that might be handy later. Pay special attention to the one for water.

   As you go into the room across from the bathroom, the music room, there is a paper rolled up on the table that you face when you walk in. It is a sheet of music and there is the word BAD written on it. In blood.

   In the view of the fireplace there is a knitting basket, pick up one of the needles. In the view with the door you came in there is a table with a basket on it. Open the drawer and you see another of the ripped papers with red and green circles, take note as you did for the other two. You can look in the basket on top of the table and see some interesting pictures and letters, but there isn’t anything you need there. Go to the piano and click on it.

   You will see a keyboard with white and black keys. The fist key is the note C.

   The BAD on the sheet of music isn’t a word but a series of musical notes.

   Click on the notes that have bloody fingerprints on them. The last, then the one before it, then the one on the left. You’ll hear a crash.

   Back up and you can see one of the paintings fell down. Click where it was and see a gray box with nine red circles, anything familiar about them?

   The ripped notes make up a combination, and you can tell from the edges of each where they fit into the combination.

   Press only the circles that should be green.

   Show

   The middle of the first row, the first on the second row and the last on the third row.

   Pick up the key and use it on the door to the child’s room, across from the butterfly room.

   you can look at the drawings around the table, the toys all over the room, in the toybox, in the drawer next to the bed and under the bed for fun storyline stuff, but all you really need to do is face the chair with the teddy bear in it and stab him in the back with your knife. And click on the rocking horse to get a closeup and get the skull button from his eye socket.

   Take out the key, but you don’t need it yet. First go downstairs and into the kitchen. Go to the screen with the radio and click it to get a close up. You needed an antenna remember?

   The knitting needle works for an antenna, use it to hear another code. “The attic, 8466″ for anyone who doesn’t have sound.

   Now go back upstairs to the second floor to get to the door for the attic. The door for that is next to the stairs you would use to go back to the first floor. Use the key from the child’s room. Go up into the attic, turn right and open the drawer. Pick up the white rag. You can look at all the pictures but the only important one is the Mona Lisa next to the stairs that lead to the second floor.

   Click on the portrait and then look at the safe behind it. Use the code from the radio for yet another key.

   Turn twice and use the key on the door with the blood under it, go in and you are facing a trunk. Click on it and you see a skull and an empty hole. Use the skull button to open it. Take out the blue essence.

   This is another tricky part, back up and turn left, you see a pile of furniture. You need to move it piece by piece to get behind it.

   First click on the upside down table on the upper right. Then the trophy, then the chair, the wall lamp, The chair again, the table with the trophy, The table lamp, the big piece of furniture that now has nothing on it, the desk with the lamp, the dining table, THEN you can click the trunk. It has a butterfly symbol on it, use the butterfly coin.

   It is the final key, you are almost done.

   go back to the kitchen to the steps that lead to the basement and use your key.

   Go through that door and turn until you see a hole in the wall. Click on it and go through. Then you are facing another door with a floating cloud or something, try to go through it, there is a scary demon. Good thing you read up on how to get rid of them.

   You have blue essence, but when you look at the wall you see the symbol for earth, not water. use your cloth to wipe the extra line away and then use your blue essence in the bowl.

   Go into the room that had a demon and through the hole in the wall on the other side.

   You are in a sewer. It seems like a maze, but your character knows where he came from and won’t let you go the wrong way. Do this until you get to the “nicer sewer” turn until you see a skeleton hand. If you click it, you can climb into another room, but it’s a joke from the creator, there is nothing you can do so go back and through the tunnel past the skeleton hand. Turn until you see a ladder and then go up it.

   Congratulations you made it to town! Now turn until you see the bus depot and click the ticket window. Answer the questions, you can’t answer wrong and then congratulations, you escaped!

    in nice sewer see no ladder – just skeleton hand, rubber duck behind bars, bars with nothing behind them and tunnel that says I was there before and can’t go through – keep turning around and nothing – what am I doing wrong?

    Thank you so much for the compliments zorkmidden, and everyone else! It really is the first time I’ve written a walkthorugh. I just have used so many, and so many are vague in just the wrong place, that it is frustrating, so I decided that mine would be as clear as possible. I’m really thrilled everyone likes it so much!

    Sorry though zorkmidden, I can’t write walkthroughs for your other games – I haven’t beat them yet! Those mazes get me every time :) I’ll probably need a walkthrough from someone else to finish.

    I’m not an idiot I swear usually I play these games all the time. Maybe I’m crazy but after I go through the first couple rooms you don’t need a key for I tried to use the key I did pick up and nothing. I restarted the game went in every room I could then picked up the key from the dining room and still couldn’t get anywhere. I went into my briefcase where my inventory is kept and still nothing I could see the key and statue. I could drag the key and statue they just didn’t work. Any help what so ever

    There is a detailed description of exactly where it is and how to get to where you use it in my walkthrough

    I spent ages on that bit! It was tricky.

    Daisy, that really is a brilliant walkthrough. It gave just enough detail and it didn’t spoil anything for me when I was checking through it. At every stage you let the reader decide how much detail s/he wants.
