Look at the table in front of the window-wall to get your first of six puzzle pieces.
Turn right. On the left, the top drawer needs a four-letter code, and the bottom drawer has four buttons with leaves on them, but we don’t have a clue for either one.
Further to the right, the clock appears to be missing a weight. There’s also a puzzle piece peeking out of the books.
Turn right. The corner cabinet needs a key. There’s a puzzle box under the middle, but it looks unsolvable; although if we could find a screwdriver, we might be able to remedy that.
On the right, the top drawer says “HERBARIUM” and has two buttons, and the bottom drawer needs a four-digit code. On top of the drawers, there’s another puzzle piece, and a clue under the lamp.
Turn right. On the left is what might be the solution to the puzzle box, but while you can press it, it doesn’t seem to do anything. In the middle, there’s an arrow missing, and it says “TIME” on the bottom part. On the right, there’s a 4×4 grid puzzle.
Right, solving time. Let’s go look at the clue under the lamp again. If you trace the numbers, you’ll see that they spell out four letters: SOUL. Go try that on the drawer that needed a four-letter code (top one on the clock wall).
This gets you a book with lots of bits of clues. The one that seems most immediately useful is the front cover: where else have we seen that word before? Go to the top drawer on the mirror wall and push the buttons according to how the letters are arranged on the book cover. (LRLRLLLLR)
Oooh, a screwdriver. Puzzle-box time! Use the screwdriver to loosen the bottom right piece, flip it over in your inventory, and screw it back in place. Now solve the puzzle, remembering how the picture on the wall was arranged (yellow on top). Is that a… pinecone? With a hook? Ah! It’s a clock weight!
Go ahead and put the weight in place on the clock, but there’s nothing else you can do with it just yet. Instead, look at your book. The first two pages look like they might be clues for the leaf puzzle, but then the third page fails to follow that pattern. But it *is* a 4×4 grid, which is also a puzzle remaining to be solved. Push the buttons in the puzzle that correspond to the dark brown leaves. This gets you a knob and stick thingy, and there’s another clue paper.
To read the clue, note what word the letters spell: TIME. Then note the patterns each number forms, and read them off in order: 7081.
Before you go see what that opens, notice what has changed on this wall: the circle thingy is no longer colorful. Try pressing it to get a metal plate with a hole on one end, and a clue paper that says 2351 in roman numerals.
Next, use the TIME clue to open the bottom drawer on the mirror wall. This gets you a puzzle piece and a gold key. Use the key to open the corner cabinet and get a puzzle piece and a xylophone. The xylophone is missing one piece, and it looks like that metal plate you found earlier is a perfect fit. But you need to screw it in place. Well, that circle puzzle box doesn’t need its screw anymore, does it? Go steal the screw and use it to fix the xylophone.
Now, back to the book. Notice how the pages have roman numerals. Combine the clue paper with the roman numerals with the leaf shapes in the book to open the bottom drawer on the clock wall (aspen-ivy-oak-maple). This gets you your last puzzle piece.
The remaining page of the book has the number 24563 in increasingly large characters, kinda like the xylophone. Try playing the xylophone as instructed, using the ball-and-stick thingy to hit the second (from the left, despite the backwards image – my biggest quibble with this game, aside from the name) note, then the fourth, etc. If you do it right, you get a triangle piece.
Wait, that’s not a triangle, it’s an arrow: it’s the part that’s missing from the middle picture on the wall. Put it in place, then notice that the arrows form six narrow stripes, kinda like your puzzle pieces. Put your pieces in place, then use the arrows to align the picture. (The table leg in the picture should not be visible; or, to put it another way, the top of the picture is the apex of the clock.)
When you get it all aligned right, the compartment opens and you get a shiny pointy thing. Examine the picture: that looks like the room key might be *in* the clock. Note what time it is on the clock; perhaps if you get the room’s clock set to the same time, it’ll open, too?
Go put the shiny pointy thingy in place on the clock – it’s the minute hand – and set the time to match the picture (3:30). And there’s the room key, and you’re out. Congratulations!
ufff…
don’t give up, it’s not that hard after all ;)
what is 4 letter code…not time!

Why is this called “Escape Bird”? There’s no bird involved anywhere.
