   in the book you need a pencil, and it will give you the order of the numbers on the clock.
   Look at the clock and match the numbers to the colors

   After putting the rings in place (with the help of book on floor and clock) you just have to look at the three columns of squares for each color, then move the middle column one step up – that generates four numbers.

   Order of rings:Show

    DNOMN8R, I’m not eating the mackerel pikes either for two reasons, one that I’m vegetarian but mainly cos all the pixels get stuck in my teeth :-P

    I appreciate all the compliments. I was out of town all weekend. Just played the game, and, well, I played the same game last week. Walking it through would be making fun of the same things I made fun of last week, plus a magic pencil and obscure fish. I’ll be back with the next one. Hopefully Parallellove understands it needs to tweak the formula just a little.

    Dear Anemic,

    I apologize, but people are clamoring for your WT, and you have disappeared. I tried to imitate you, and this is what I managed to do.

    You are wondering about aimlessly on a hot summer day, minding your own business, when you pass an open door. A strong pungent smell of rotting fish hits you, and you almost pass out. Curious about the smell, you hold your nose and enter the room cautiously. Just as you step inside, the door slams shut behind you and you realize you are trapped! You try the door frantically – it’s locked! There is a code box on the door and even in your mindless panic, you realize that you will have to find the combination to the door.

    You start exploring the room. The floor and ceiling are grayish, and the walls seem to be a rather dark shade of beige. There is notebook on the floor – you take a closer look at it, and it appears to be blank. Ahh! you say to yourself, I may have to do something to that notebook! Close by is a blank screen with four circular slots, and you know that you’ll have to fill those to get a clue to the door.

    You walk further to the right and you see a squarish couch with a picture above it. You look closer at the picture and it’s completely blank. No wonder, you say to yourself, whatever was in the picture fled from the smell. Your keen sense of observation notes that the picture is hanging from two threads, but they are of different color. Hmm, that’s curious. Now you start your search in earnest.

    You look under the couch, and on the right side, you find, of all things, an umbrella. Well, this could be useful, you think to yourself. If you ever get our of here alive, you might need it.

    You look at the left side of the couch, and you find a red key, and you already know from experience that there will be more colored keys.

    You walk further to the right, and the smell is even stronger. On a low bookshelf you find a plate of mackerel pike, and you faint… After an interminable time, you wake and take the mackerel. You resolve to be strong, since you know that there will be four more plates. There is also a bowl on one shelf, but it’s stuck.

    High up, you see something hanging from a peg. You use you umbrella to remove it, and it’s a green torus. You also lose your umbrella, but you are too dazed to even think about it.

    You look at the left side of the bookshelf, and you find another key – a blue key. Now you use your two keys to open the doors of a low cabinet. The red key reveals a screwdriver and another mackerel. You remove both.

    The blue key opens another door, and you take a pair of scissors and another mackerel pike. By this time, you are getting used to the smell.
    You look under the three doors and you find, of all things, a pencil.

    In the same area of the room you also see a strange-looking clock with a red marking next to it. You take a closer look, and the red marking turns out to be a red crab. How does a crab turn red? Probably from eating too much mackerel. The clock is also a bit strange – you notice that the hours of 12, 3, 6 and 9 are in four different colors – red, green, yellow and blue. But wait, you already have a green torus, so you know that you need red, yellow and blue tori (sorry, but the Latin plural of torus is tori).

    You walk further to the right, and you see a tallish bookshelf. You take the inevitable mackerel. You also peer behind the bookshelf from the left side, but there’s nothing there – it’s just a red herring (more fish???). There is a coffee table with a box on it, and something above it attached to the wall. As you touch it, it magically becomes a metal plate screwed to the wall.

    Your remove the metal plate with your screwdriver, to reveal the red torus. Now you look closely at the box on the table. You know that this is a simple puzzle, but something about the mackerel smell is making your mind vague, and it takes you forever to arrange the puzzle into the shape of the red crab.
    Inside the box you find the yellow key.

    You turn left and walk slowly to find the colored doors again. You fumble and drop the yellow key – this is not like you – something is happening inside your brain. At last you open the door to find the yellow torus and the last mackerel.

    Vaguely, you remember that you are looking for a blue torus, and you manage to remember a blue string. You go back to the couch and look at the picture again. You use the scissors to cut the blue string and the picture moves to reveal the blue torus.

    You walk back to the screen and insert the colored tori into the slots, but nothing happens. Now you are very weak and dizzy, and you faint again. Apparently, there is more fresh air near the floor, and you wake up next to the blank notebook. You take stock of your life, and realizing that this may be your last day, you decide to use the pencil and notebook to write your last will and testament.

    As the pencil touches the notebook, it magically reveals a diagram with an arrow bent on itself, going left to right, diagonally down and up. Will this save you? This hope gives you strength, and you search the room again, until you come to the clock. Then you see that the arrow gives you an order of the four colors: blue – green – yellow – red.

    You go back to the screen and put the four tori in the order you found. This time, the screen lights up with four figures. Normally, you wouldn’t understand them, but with your fuzzy sight, the middle column of each figure moves one square up, and you see the numbers 5 – 3 – 2 – 8.

    You enter the numbers in the door, and escape, vowing never to enter strange rooms again.
