follow the patterns on the paper on the floor…each pattern gives a puzzle. My guess top to bottom is the door code…can’t yet visualize the numbers though

You probalbly donÂ´t need a walkthrough for this one, and we should wait for Anemic’s, but I want to practice writing walkthrougs so here comes one anyway:

1. Show

Nothing to do in first room, move right.

2. Show

Take toast on sofa.
Click left of sofa, get red key.
Click right of sofa, notice picture.
Move right.

3. Show

Click left of high cupboard, take coin.
Open red locker, get toast and dustcloth.
Move right.

4. Show

Take toast.
Click under book case, get rope.
Get blue key from right of table.
Click on box on table. Create picture of beetle from 2nd
room, get yellow key.
Use dustcloth on thing in book case, take “head”, which is red
ball.

5. Show

Go left and open blue locker, get toast and blue ball.
Open yellow locker, get toast and scissors.
Use rope to get green ball from top of high cupboard.

6. Show

Go left. Use scissors on bag in sofa. Get yellow ball.

7. Show

Go left. Open book. Use coin on grey square, see colored balls.

8. To get code: Show

There are 4 rows, to get 4 numbers for door code.

1st row: Insert blue ball in first hole, and yellow ball in third hole on
the screen on the wall. Combine the cubes in your mind (not possible
to move them) so that all the light blue
areas are connected (with lines on) and the sides of the boxes
should match. You can now see a number.

2nd row: Insert green ball in 2nd hole, blue ball in 3rd hole and red
ball in 4th hole. Combine the cubes so that all the yellow areas are
connected. You get another number.

3rd row: Insert blue ball in 1st hole, yellow in 2nd and green in 4th.
Combine pink areas.

4th row: Insert red ball in 1st hole and blue in 4th. Combine green
areas.

Walkthrough:

It’s an unseasonably warm August Saturday. One of those miserable days when the wind isn’t blowing and the air is as stale as yesterday’s New York Times Op-Ed page. The National Weather Service has issued a “screw it, it isn’t worth going outside” alert.

Suddenly, you hear the word “attemperation” as you pass an open door. You think to yourself, “that can’t possibly be a real word – obviously Jesse Jackson has been here, and is practicing a speech inside. But you look at your trusty Netbook, and find that attemperation is, indeed, a word. Not only that, it refers to the regulation of the temperature of a substance.

That’s good enough for you, and you decide to head inside, because the idea that August can be regulated is very appealing.

You find yourself inside a room with dark gray linen wallpaper, the kind they often use to line the walls of those office buildings built in the ’70s on budgets smaller than what you covered on your paper route in the ninth grade.

The door locks; you’re on your 104th adventure!

Your eyes immediately spot a video screen on the wall. Hey, that’s a routine you’ve come to know and love. The screen does nothing now, but there are four holes below. You know that you will soon be inserting four colored balls into those holes so you can view clues to the combination that will certainly open this locked door.

There’s also a book on the floor. You see a light gray square on one side, and an arrow pointing down on the other side. This could mean one of three things: A) there’s a clue below a gray square somewhere in the room, B) there’s a clue below the book and you have to do something to the gray square to reveal more information or C) your fly is unzipped.

You click on the floor near the book and on the wall underneath the gray video screen. Nothing. Didn’t expect it would be that easy, did you?

You turn to the right and face a large gray sofa. Gray is definitely the color of the day today. And it’s starting to make you feel a bit bland.

On the sofa, you see a Plate of Toast. Bland food for a bland day. This is unusually thick toast, but it’s not French Toast, or Freedom Toast. Maybe a hint of cinnamon. I think five of these pieces of toast would comprise a nice breakfast. There’s a blob of butter in one corner.

In the center of the sofa, you see what looks like a sack of money. Now out of all the items you can find during an adventure, the prospect of some serious cash is one of the most pleasant. So you try to take the sack. Nothing. You jump up on the sofa and start pulling with all your might. Nothing. You take the toast, butter and all, and try and make some real bread (groan). Nothing. I apologize for that. Sincerely.

You dutifully search the rest of the sofa. Behind it on the right side, you find a picture of a beetle with a very unusual single antenna. Or perhaps a beetle that swallowed a lawn mower. Rubbing buttered toast on the beetle makes you giggle a little, but doesn’t accomplish anything.

Behind the sofa on the left side, you find a Red Key. There’s always a red key to be found somewhere, and it’s always the first key. If this were Star Trek, the key wearing red would also be the first to be used. So I guess there’s precedent. Still can’t get the sack of money.

Turning to the right, you see a tall chest and a row of drawers with colored locks. Of course, the drawers are gray. Why wouldn’t they be?

On top of the chest, you see a small green UFO. But it’s too high to reach, even when you throw your toast at it. So you look behind the chest, on the left side. And there, resting on the floor, is a completely blank coin. This is one of the great rarities of numismatics – a coin minted by a country that has absolutely nothing to say. What’s the message here, maybe “in peace and quiet we trust” or “E Pluribus Nada?”

Rubbing buttered toast on the coin does not reveal any hidden message.

Using the Red Key, you open one of the locked drawers (I’d tell you which one, but that would be giving too much away). You take a second Plate of Toast and a Dustcloth. Time to look for smears of some sort to wipe away.

You turn to the right and see a bookshelf and a table. There’s a small box on the table. You know what that means, kids. It’s tile puzzle time!!! And I’m guessing it’s a beetle with a lawn mower. Assembling the beetle provides you with a Yellow Key.

You look behind the table on the right side and find the Blue Key. So that’s all the keys you need, and presumably a path toward finding a full compliment of toast.

You take the third Plate of Toast from one of the shelves. You look under the bookshelf, on the left side, and you find a Jump Rope. Now that’s something you haven’t seen in one of these rooms before. You wonder if there’s a double-dutch competition in your future. Or perhaps you need to train for a boxing match. Better load up on the carbs from all that toast.

There’s some sort of sculpture on the bookshelf as well, but you can’t get a good look at it. Nor does it respond when you throw toast at it. Or throw a coin. Or strangle it with a jump rope. Or wipe it with a Dustcloth… wait, the Dustcloth does change the sculpture. And you take a Red Ball. That’s going to be useful with the video screen.

You move back to the left. In a fit of frustration, because you don’t have any medieval weapons handy, you whip your Jump Rope at the green UFO thing on top of the bureau. This gives you the Green Ball.

You unlock the yellow drawer and take a fourth Plate of Toast and a pair of Scissors. You unlock the blue drawer and there’s the fifth Plate of Toast and a Blue Ball.

You notice that the butter balls on all that toast have hardened, and you wonder if that will help form a yellow ball. Unfortunately, trying to cut the balls off the toast with the scissors doesn’t do anything.

You move to the left and viciously attack the sack sitting on the sofa with your new Scissors. More coins? No, it’s the long-lost Yellow Ball.

It’s time to move to the left and address the final clues. You pick up the book again, and rub the coin on that gray square. This gives you a 4 by 4 grid of colored circles:

Blue, Black, Yellow, Black.
Black, Green, Blue, Red.
Blue, Yellow, Black, Green.
Red, Black, Black, Blue.

There’s still an arrow pointing down. And rubbing toast on it does nothing.

Maybe the arrow pointing down indicates an order of sorts, because you’ve run out of objects to find, and it didn’t come in handy elsewhere.

You look at the video screen. Just putting a ball on the screen does nothing. But arranging the balls the same way they were arranged in rows on the book activates the screen.

Blue, Black, Yellow, Black produces a design with four blocks. The blocks have colored sides, and a design on one side with a light blue background.

You arrange the blocks in your mind, keeping the light blue side up and matching the colored squares. This produces what looks like a little square, or maybe a 0.

The second row – Black, Green, Blue, Red – can be rearranged to form a 2 on a yellow background. The third row – Blue, Yellow, Black, Green – forms what looks like a 7 on a pink background. And the fourth row – Red, Black, Black, Blue – forms a 4 on a green background.

You go to the door and try the combination: 0274. The lock clicks. You turn the handle and the door opens. The toast turns out to be surprisingly delicious once you scrape away the congealed butter balls.
