   The hint says something about Show

   spraying on the eyes

   but I don’t see how I can do that.

   I opened the vent, found the box, a tumbler for it, the note, matches, candle, gum and now I’m just sitting here, enjoying the train ride… ??? What next????

   after opening the box, how am i supposed to beat the darkness? i guess i gotta use the coke somehow.. but how?

   i read something about a cola mentos trick? i dont find any mentos.. just the coke, this brush thing and all that crap lying around there..

   I finished, but I’m quite reluctant to try to repeat the experience enough times to write a walkthrough, so this is just some hints.
   Show

   There’s a mirror behind one of the signs above your head. Use it to look inside the vent (also above you) and get the metal object. There’s another similar metal object on the floor somewhere, get it too.
   Go to the end of the compartment. Get the paper with the lemony spot and the chewing gum from the left seat; I believe the matches are in the bag to the left. There’s also a box in the bag; put the metal objects (lock tumblers) into its lid. Light the candle and use it to read the lemony spot. That’s the code to open the box.
   Scary time: hit spacebar like crazy when the “panic” button shows up.
   You’re now in a different compartment. I get a bit hazy here, but basically you pick up trash until you get a bottle of cola and some mentos. Combine and use on the encroaching black fog. There are red eyes that show up in the fog, aim at them. If you survive, go to the very right (but stop before you hit the monster in the wall) and get the key from the seat.
   Run left all the way back to the original compartment (more scary time; hit spacebar like crazy when the tentacles get close) and find the box. Put the key in and turn it several times.
   Now there doesn’t seem to be anything else to do except pick up some more litter, then sit down. Look down at your legs. Eeek!
   I guess it’s to be continued some more?

    after the cola mentos trick i got the keys on the right site and ran as fast as i could towards the box, opened it, used the keything, played some music, was confused, took a seat, and got grabbed at the legs.. end

    The *candle* is in the bag. The matches are under the long row of seats, but you can’t look under them or open the vent or anything until *after* you’ve looked in the bag.

    I forgot: you need to stick the mirror into the top of the box (with the chewing gum) before you get the scary moment.

    In the compartment with the blue seats, the mentos are inside the tied-up plastic bag. There’s a comb on the floor in front of one of the doors that you can use to open the bag.

    To use the mentos+cola, you simply aim with your mouse – no spacebar here. (Actually, I don’t remember if I had to click with the mouse or just aim, but in any case, there’s no spacebar involved.) I went back and forth in an arc until I saw red eyes, then aimed at them. Possibly I also just lucked out.

    when you do that then you will have to press space bar it will tell you when though. Then you will come to a train stop. Go to your far right quickly very quickly pick up the key sitting on the top of the last seat . . . if you don’t do it quick and start to run the other way as soon as you get it you will die agian. so run as fast as you can to the left now (with the key) and when you get to the end you will see that box thing that you had to put the mirror in earlier . . . put the key in the hole and keep pushing the key to keep turning it around. Then look at your legs . . . when you get here you’ll know what i mean!

    This game is brilliant! took me a few tries, but that’s ok haha! scary moments did indeed scare me :) waiting for part 4 now!!

    So I cranked the music box until something happened. A door opened, and then the train prepared to move (Oh no!). I ran to the door and clicked out to escape. Cue the creepy ghost-corpse-woman floating behind her (Oh no! Again!)

    Is this or the ankle-holding the ‘proper’ way to go?

    You might die a couple of times during this game. No problem since you can always resume where you left off. Also get used to the "space bar hitting", if you are too slow, try again immediately.

    – wait a bit until your wagon is in a tunnel
    – from first screen, go left and pick up round metal thing by the pole
    – go forward, click on bag and get candle
    – turn around to other seat
    – get paper and gum from underneath the seat
    – go back to first screen, now you should be able to pick up matches from underneath the seats there

    – click up to zoom in on subway map
    – click on subway map and you get a mirror
    – click on vent to open it
    – put mirror in vent
    – light candle with matches and hold lit candle into vent
    – this should give you another round metal thing
    – plug both round metal things into the box inside the bag
    – turn around again and look at paper
    – use lit candle right below the writings and read off code

    – use code on box, to open it click edge of box
    – combine mirror and gum and stick that onto box
    – SPACE BAR
    – watch cut scene until it’s dark
    – after that, pick up quickly, the tied bag, the cola, and the beng comb
    – use comb on tied bag, you get mentos
    – combine mentos and cola
    – then wave cola bottle to fend off darkness

    – SPACE BAR
    – another cut scene
    – the following has to be done very quickly: go all the way to the right and pick up key; then run all the way to the left as fast as possible and do the space bar routine when needed
    – go back to box and use key on box
    – turn it a couple of times
    – two endings after that: either you make it really fast to get out of the subway to get ending #1, or you can’t make it fast enough, sit down and think it over to get ending #2

    When you go through the flashing images, there is a black box with red text. I have captured this box! – it answers questions about the Darkness series.
    Note – it being cut off at the bottom is not my fault. The screen was caught like that. It says Show

    Good game but scary as anything….. I was reluctant to go back and try because there are things in this game that I didn’t expect…
    The comb (that is in the second stage) is after the second or third set of doors on the floor, quickly combine it with the tied up white bag…

    AHHHHHH!! I CANT BELIEVE I WAS PLAYIN THIS GAME IN THE DARK!! ITS SO CREEPY!! I DESIDED AFTER THE CREEPY WOMEN UNDER THE SEAT I WOULD PLAY IT IN THE MORNIN’. BUT IT’S SO FREAKIN CREEPY!!     Ok, NO ONE has actually told you how to do it here so here it is! It took me 2.5 hours on fire guard duty to figure it out. But I finally made it!!! So here goes. The leg grab thing is the dumb easy ending, the other one is so worth the HARD work. OK: Show

    After creepy naked chick appears in the music box window, you MUST constantly click the very right of the game area until she has run to the next car opening. DON’T STOP till she gets past both exit doors and the cursor changes into a hand which captions “exit train” or something very similar. CLICK IT FAST! Then enjoy your hard won victory!

    A big hint that makes this much less scary: DO NOT turn up your sound. In fact, turn off your speakers or hit the mute button. The game is entirely winnable without sound (i.e. you don’t have to listen for clues or anything), so why set yourself up to be scared unnecessarily?
