Golf Ace Hawaii

Categories: Free, Games, Online, Shockwave, Sports   3 comments - March 19, 2008

Golf Ace HawaiiGolf Ace HawaiiGolf Ace Hawaii is the latest game created by the talented folks of Silent Bay Studios from Italia (check out the amazing Skyboard).

Golf Ace Hawaii is – as you can guess from its name – a golf simulation game. The game has two types of game modes: single player and training mode. Select your character, select your opponent and then enjoy the beautiful 9-hole course.

Playing Golf Ace Hawaii is relatively easy once you master the controls (that’s why there is a training mode!). Aim your swing with the arrow keys (press V to view the course map, it helps!). There is a meter at that bottom of the screen to determine the force of the swing and accuracy with which you connect to the ball. Press the space bar to start the power bar, press it again to choose the power and press the space bar a third time to set the accuracy. Don’t forget to check the wind direction indicated by a pink arrow in the top right corner of the game window.

When you’re right near the hole, a grid shows up with sliding markers that helps you see the slope in the green.

Overall, Golf Ace Hawaii is an amazing Shockwave golf simulation game. The 3D Graphics are top-notch, and the game has it all. One word of warning though: this game requires a more-than-decent computer (especially the graphic card) to run smoothly.

Have fun!

Line Golfer

Categories: Flash, Free, Games, Online, Others, Skill, Sports   3 comments - January 18, 2008

Line GolferLine GolferLine Golfer is a golfing Flash game created by WDDG that plays just like it sounds. The golfer is a stick person and the golf courses are lines. The neat thing about Line Golfer is you can create your own courses and then share them with other players. Many people have already designed courses for the game, which is good because there is only one sample course available from the programmers of the game.

Line Golfer has a very simple concept: hit the golf ball into the hole. The problem is that it is not always easy to hit the ball into the hole. Many of the golf courses require players to hit the ball over big gaping holes or up stair case structures. Players aim the ball using the mouse. When you are ready to hit the ball, hold down the mouse button until the power lever gets to the desired place and then let go of the mouse button. The ball will be hit with as much power as the meter displayed. There is a science to getting the correct amount of power.

Each course has a certain number of hits that you are suppose to complete the course in, otherwise known as par. In other words, if a course is par 4, then you are supposed to complete the course in four hits. The level does not end if you do not get par. You can keep hitting the golf ball until you get the ball in the hole. Players get a “score card” at the end of each level. The score card lets you know how far over or under par you were. Players have an option to play the course again or move on to another course.

Line Golfer is a fun game to play depending on the course. Some of the courses that people make are really difficult to play and become frustrating fast. The courses that are not too crazy are fun to play. If you are into golf games or are looking for a fun game to past the time, check out Line Golfer.

Golf JamGolf JamGolf Jam is a new golf driving range game released by Mousebreaker. First of all, choose your player from four different characters and then prepare yourself for a challenging training program!

You control your player with the mouse: aim your shot by moving your mouse while keeping an eye on the wind indicator. Adjust your aim and then click to start the power and click again to stop it at the desire level.

10 training stages must be unlocked before you can play the “all targets” final level.

That’s all you need to know to play Golf Jam. But to master it, well, that’s another story!

Golf Drive

Categories: Flash, Free, Games, Online, Sports   1 comment - September 19, 2007

Golf DriveGolf DriveIt’s golf fans day today: after the previously reviewed Put It In! and its 18 holes mini golf, here is Golf Drive, a 2D prehistoric game of golf, in which you won’t use a club to hit the ball, but a catapult!

Use the left and arrow keys to move your catapult when you don’t have a ball in it and the up and down keys to adjust the angle of your catapult golf club. Click and hold down the left mouse button to adjust the power bar of the catapult and release it to throw the ball.

In Golf Drive, you also have to use the catapult as a golf cart and drive to where you hit the ball. This can get tricky in some of the 18 levels: drive carefully and try not to fall off the edge or the course or you will get an extra shot penalty.

Press the M key to have a view of the whole “fairway” and press C when you can no longer drive to your ball.

Golf Drive is a game that requires some practice and a lot of nerves to obtain consistent results. The last few holes (ice age) are quite difficult, and finishing under par on this course is actually pretty challenging!

Putt It In!

Categories: Flash, Free, Games, Online, Sports   2 comments - September 19, 2007

Putt It InPutt It InPutt It In! is a new 18 holes mini-golf simulation created by Dr QI, the developer behind QIgames.

Controls are with your mouse. Firstly, choose the initial position of your ball on the grey square and click to put it in place. Once you have selected the ball position, move your mouse to aim in the direction you want to shoot and adjust the power and then click to hit the ball.

Like in almost every golf simulation game, you will need a bit of practice before you get the hang of it. It is quite difficult to know how steep hills are, and the isometric makes it harder to line up correctly (an overview option would have been a nice addition).

All in all, Putt It In! is entertaining and fun to play. Can you complete the 18 holes and end up under par?

Pinch Hitter 2Pinch Hitter 2After the success of Pinch Hitter, Mousebreaker’s team launched Pinch Hitter 2 last July and it became an instant hit.

Your challenge in this Baseball game is to take a player all the way from The Sandlot, through the Little League, to the glory and floodlights of Major League Baseball.

While many players complained that PH2 needed an easier type of play and disliked it, many others loved it and kept hooked for hours!

If you didn’t already play Pinch Hitter 2 and if you want to make your own opinion, you know what to do…

Trysil Twintip

Categories: Advergames, Flash, Free, Games, Online, Sports    - February 28, 2007

Trysil TwintipTrysil TwintipTrysil Twintip is a nice advergame created by the ad agency Agens to promote Trysil, a Norwegian alpine network.

“Set in the beautiful hillsides of Norway’s biggest ski resort, you have access to dozens of jumps, rails and neck-twisting slopes.

Rail-to-rail-action or maximum airtime on the spring jumps? It’s totally up to you!”

Your goal here is to do as many tricks as possible before the time runs out. Use the arrow keys to move your skier in air/on ground and press spacebar to gather power and release it to jump.

You’ll need some practice before you feel comfortable with the controls; but once you get used to them, Trysil Twintip becomes very entertaining.

Overall, another beautifully designed game by the authors of the previously reviewed Stuntsup.

Skyboard

Categories: 3D, Action, Free, Games, Online, Shockwave, Sports   5 comments - October 26, 2006

SkyboardSkyboardSkyboard is the latest game developed by the Italian team from Silent Bay Studios and has just been released on Miniclip.

Skyboard is a fast 3D racing game involving four skyboard riders over the city rooftops.

First of all, choose your rider and then enter a new tournament. A tournament is divided in nine different races in three categories:
– Competition: try to be the first one to the finish line.
– Collection: collect as much rings as you can as fast as you can.
– Elimination: At the end of every lap, the last rider is eliminated.

Simply use the arrow keys to control your rider, avoid the green toxic smokes that slow you, and try to use speed boosts and shortcuts to defeat your opponents.

Let’s go straight to the point. If the game is suited for a young audience, the team working on Skyboard did an absolutely incredible job with all the work they’ve put together here. 3D graphics and animations are breathtaking and the game runs very smoothly. The slow-motion sequences during the race are very impressive and are a nice addition to the game, at least for the first few minutes; after that, I recommend you turn the video camera off in the main menu to keep your attention on the race.

Overall, Skyboard is a new truly amazing racing game that you can play for free in your favorite browser. Have fun!

TG Motocross 2 : better than the original!

Categories: Action, Flash, Free, Games, Online, Sports   3 comments - August 14, 2006

TG Motocross 2TG Motocross 2TG Motocross 2 is out! “The popular dirt bike time trial series continues with fresh new challenges”. Here is what David Thorburn wrote about his first famous TG Motocross sequel released today on his website teagames.com.

Thorburn didn’t only design new levels: he revamped the graphics, and more important, make the game much easier to play than the original episode. The result is a motorbike that is much more fun and less tricky to ride, and I would definitely recommend this one to occasional gamers.

You still control your trial rider with the arrow keys: up to accelerate and down to brake; right and left arrows to lean forward and backward respectively. Use down and right keys at the same time to lean forward while riding to climb steep; lean backward while riding for extra speed by using up and left keys at the same time.

With 7 levels available and 4 more coming soon, TG Motocross 2 is better than the original in every way, and really deserves a try!

Show Jumping

Categories: 3D, Free, Games, Online, Shockwave, Sports   74 comments - July 28, 2006

Show JumpingShow JumpimgShow Jumping is the latest game designed by Lucas Meijer, the Dutch freelance developer behind Supersonic RC. This brand new 3D show jumping simulation was released a few days ago on Miniclip.com.

In this new 3D Shockwave game, your goal is to ride a horse and get to the finish line as fast as possible, jumping cleanly over any obstacle in a limited time. You control your jumper with the arrow keys, and you jump by pressing the space bar. Hold the space bar down if you want to jump higher. For every obstacle knocked down, a 5- second penalty is added to your total course time.

Including 2 training levels and 4 different courses, Show Jumping is a very well done 3D simulation; and if completing the first and the second levels shouldn’t be too difficult, you will probably spend much more time attempting to complete the last two ones.

With superb graphics and really smooth animations, this game is so far and by far the best Show Jumping simulation I ever played. Have fun!

Down Hill Duel

Categories: 3D, Action, Advergames, Free, Games, Online, Shockwave, Sports    - July 25, 2006

Down Hill DuelDown Hill DuelDown Hill Duel is the latest Shockwave game released by Inboxgames Digital and is a promotional game for the UK clothing brand Fat Face.

In this amazing 3D bike race simulation, you ride a mountain bike and have to get to the finish line as fast as possible, pulling tricks and collecting Fat Face logos as you go to increase your speed boost. Control your biker with the arrow keys and use the space bar to jump/boost.

The best part of the game is the multiplayer option: you can create your own league, invite some friends and then race against them as their top race is played back. In the solo mode, you can also race against your own top race biker: this implementation is really helpful in your attempts to set a new personal record, and adds a lot to the game’s value.

On the downside, there is only one track (with two different routes) available in the game and that’s probably why you won’t spend hours on your bike!

Overall, Down Hill Duel is a superb game, recommended for all 3D simulations lovers, and it definitely deserves a try. Have fun!

Stuntstup

StuntstupAlmost a century ago, diving entered the Olympic Games as a new event. Diving developed in Europe in the 17th century, when gymnasts practiced their acrobatics over water. Now you can safely practice diving with  Stuntstup,  a Flash diving simulation created by the Norwegian ad agency Agens.

Stuntstup-1Stuntstup-2Stuntstup-3The object of the game is to perform a series of three dives, and get for each dive the highest score as possible from the judges. The final score for each dive depends on the level of difficulty, the height of the diver at the apex of the dive, with extra height resulting in a higher score and angle of entry into the water, the straighter you enter into the water, the better.

Stuntstup-5Stuntstup-4You control your diver with the space bar and the arrow keys. Press the space bar to start running on the plate-form, press the space bar a second time to take off and then use the arrow keys and the space bar to perform as many somersaults or twists as possible (you will have to figure out how to make the best combination of movements).

With appealing graphics and a really entertaining soundtrack, Stuntstup is a very original and well done diving simulation, perfect for a hot summer day!

Base Jumping

Categories: Flash, Free, Games, Online, Sports   8 comments - July 4, 2006

Base JumpingBase JumpingBase jumping is a quite dangerous sport using a parachute to jump from buildings, bridges, or natural formations like cliffs. Base jumping is also the latest game developed by Martijn Kunst. Released in April, the game became an instant hit in the online gamers community.

The object is to progress through five different leagues by defeating other base jumpers in a three-round competition! Try to be the quickest to jump when the “Go” appears and then try to deploy your parachute just on time to be the fastest on the ground. Use the space bar to jump and press again on the space bar to open your parachute.

If you deploy your parachute a bit too late, you will be injured. Check the health-meter at the top of the game’s window and don’t let it be “all red or you’ll be all dead”! Buy some med kits between two leagues and eventually defeat the King to become the best Base Jumper.

Base Jumping is so simple to get into that the game is accessible to all ages. Graphics and animations are all nicely polished and pleasing for the eye. The sound effects are also well suited to the game and the music is very relaxing. The simplest games are often the best ones: Base Jumping is one of those games!

Pitch ‘n’ Putt

Categories: Flash, Free, Games, Online, Sports   2 comments - June 28, 2006

Pitch 'n' PuttPitch 'n' PuttPitch ‘n’ Putt is the latest game just released by the talented David Thorburn on his website, Teagames.com. The object here is to complete a challenging 9-Hole Par 35 golf course, as fast and as much under par as possible.

Press the space bar to start your shot. Press the space bar again to set the power and press the space bar a last time to set the loft. It sounds easy to play, but like almost every golf game, it is pretty tricky to control: you’ll need some practice and it will probably useful to play the whole course once just to get used to. Don’t forget to use the arrow keys to check the fairway and locate the green, the bunkers and other obstacles that can affect your shots.

As always, Pitch ‘n’ Putt features the same realistic physics and animation as other Thorburn games. My only complain is that there is no global view of the fairway (a map in the upper right corner of the screen, such as the one implemented in TG Motocross would have been definitely helpful), leading to some confusion during your first shots.

Overall, Pitch ‘n’ Putt is a simple and elegant golf simulation designed by David Thorburn, perfect for a ten minute break!

Have fun!
