Developed by Virgil Wall, Whiteboard War: ChopRaider is a wargame that takes place on a Whiteboard!

Pilot your ChopRaider advanced assault helicopter and use all its weapons as you destroy factories, airbases, shipyards, planes, tanks, and ships.

Press Shift to take off/ land the ChopRaider, use the arrow keys or the W,A, S, D keys to move, click to fire the assault canon or press spacebar to drop bombs.

Whiteboard War: ChopRaider is a fun War zone shoot-em-up. On a side note, this game is the Flash version of Raid on Bungeling Bay, the first game designed in 1984 by a certain Will Wright (Sim City, The Sims).

Aquanaut is the latest flash game released by Nitrome. Players need to control a submarine, collect gems and reach the treasure chest to complete the levels. The submarine is easy to control using the mouse, but the gems are not always easy to retrieve. After the first few levels, there are big bad meanies spread throughout the level. If the player gets hit by the meanies they lose part of their life. Get hit three times and you lose the level and need to restart it.

Aquanaut is an action game that gets challenging in the higher levels. The beginning levels start out as introductory and explain to the player how to play the game and accomplish all of the basic game skills. After the beginning levels, they start throwing in objects that need to be avoided throughout the level. The higher the level the more challenging, which makes sense. The levels do not get so difficult that they are not fun to play. The levels contain the correct amount of challenge and fun game play that keeps players coming back for more.

Players control the submarine using the mouse and clicking on the left mouse button. The submarine will “drive” to the mouse position. Players need to have patience as the levels increase because timing comes into play. If players just blatantly fly through the level, they will find themselves dying frequently.

The game play and scenery in Aquanaut are different from other flash games, but the biggest difference I noticed was the graphics. The graphics in Aquanaut are stunning for a flash game. Many Flash games do not contain the best graphics, but that is not the case with Aquanaut.

I really enjoyed playing Aquanaut and recommend that everyone give it a try. It is nice to see different Flash games come along every now and then and Aquanaut is one of those games.

Created by Tommy Salomonsson and Simon Stålenhag, Metro.Siberi is the first “RSSGTG” (Retro Soviet Style Gravity Tunnel Game) ever made in Flash!

To navigate through the Siberia Underground, you need to watch out for the tricky gravity. Press and hold space bar to add thrust to your vehicle and release it before hitting the roof.

It takes imagination to turn an old concept into a fresh experience: with a great soundtrack and simple polished graphics, Metro.Siberia has plenty to offer. Some checkpoints and a few more levels would have made it even better.

The Domino Knight is an interesting puzzle game designed by WildSnake Software (Blocky, Shuffle).

The goal of the game is to connect the two starting domino tiles together according to the domino rules. The rules of dominoes state that you have to match the numbers on the dominoes together. In other words, if there is a domino with a one on it then another domino with a one on it can be placed next to it either horizontally or vertically. Players can flip the dominoes using the space bar.

The dominoes are on the side of the screen coming in on a conveyor belt. Players need to put the dominoes on the board before they back up on the conveyor belt and start falling into the trash. Players have an allotted number of free chances, on the first level the chances are five and the chances increase as the level increases, before the game ends. Players also have the option to use a hammer and break the dominoes. Breaking the dominoes that can’t be used prevents them from stacking up on the conveyor belt.

The Domino Knight may sound easy, but it is challenging to get all of the dominoes on the board before they all back up. It is not as easy as just placing the dominoes on the board, because you need to match up the numbers. Sometimes, the dominoes on the conveyor belt can’t be played because they do not match up with anything on the board. The dominoes that can not be played turn a darker white/yellow color and the dominoes that can be played sort of glow white. Players have to manage the dominoes on the conveyor belt and the dominoes on the board.

Stunt Pilot is a challenging action game created by Michael Reitzenstein (Planet Cruncher). Your goal here is to fly a stunt plane through a series of rings, while avoiding any obstacles along the way. You can get through rings in any order and take as much time as you need: the game is not timed, but you well score extra points if you complete a level quickly.

You control your plane with the up and down arrow keys. Press the space bar to make your plane faster: boost through multiple rings and you’ll be rewarded with a bonus at the end of the level.

Stunt Pilot is very fun and the game is very nice looking as well. A high score table would make it even more enjoyable.

Planet Cruncher is a simple skill game created by Michael Reitzenstein in which your goal is to draw enclosed circles around groups of matching planets to earn crystals.

Press and hold your left mouse button to draw circles. Collect the crystals by touching them with your mouse pointer and fill the level quota bar to reach the next level.

Large matches of four planets or more reward a X2 multiplier. Make a match with the multiplier to activate it. If you mismatch different planets, you will create a black hole: draw a circle around it to destroy it.

Don’t forget to touch the comets to get extra crystals if you want to have a chance to fill your level quota bar in later levels!

All in all, Planet Cruncher is a game designed to be both relaxing and challenging at the same time, and it succeeds in its goal very well.

Lt. Fly vs. the Spiders from Above is an intense action/puzzle game by Teravision Games. The goal of the game is to get bullets to shoot the spiders that are falling down from the top of the screen. The player gets bullets for their gun by making matches of four of a kind on the puzzle board. The puzzle board is on the left side of the screen and the spiders fall from the top, but stay from the middle of the screen to the right. There are bullets, as well as bombs and flame throwers, buried in the puzzle boards. As the player matches four of the same colored blocks, they disappear. The goal is to get the bullets to the bottom of the screen. Once the bullets hit the bottom they go into your inventory and you can shoot the spiders.

There is “special ammo” scattered among the board, which take the form of flame throwers and bombs. The flame thrower shoots flame for about 10 seconds taking out any spiders in the area you are pointing the flame. The bombs fall down from the top of the screen and explode when they hit the bottom of the screen. The explosion takes out all of the spiders in the blast radius. Both the flame thrower and the bombs are activated by clicking on the icon below the puzzle board. The flame throwers and bombs are attained the same way the player attains the bullets.

Players make matches of colored blocks by changing the block in the top of the board with a block of their choice on the board. Like many match three type games, the block that you are placing on the board is a random color that you have to use to the best of your ability. The groups of four blocks of the same color need to be vertical, horizontal, a square formation or vertical and horizontal. In other words, they can not be in a diagonal layout.

Lt. Fly vs. the Spiders from Above is intense because you need to manage two different games at the same time. Players need to get bullets from the puzzle board and use them against the falling spiders. The spiders are constantly falling as you are trying to get bullets to shoot them with. The spiders fall at different speeds and, in the beginning levels, you are able to get some bullets and shoot spiders before too many hit the ground. Players have a health meter and when spiders hit the ground they do damage. When the players health meter is gone, you are dead and the game is over. Players have to kill the allotted number of spiders for each level, which increases with the level, before their health runs out. The player’s health stays the same through out all of the levels and does not get reset when you complete a level. In other words you start each level with the health you had when the level before ended, not full health. The ammo carries over from the previous level as well.

Lt. Fly vs. the Spiders from Above contains sixteen different levels, which may not sound like a lot, but the levels get challenging. Sixteen is enough to keep players occupied for a while. The game is insanely fun and addicting. It is hard to manage both the puzzle aspect and shooting the spiders, but the challenge adds to the fun. After his first Arcade Shooter Orb Blaster, Le Ha Nguyen is back with a kind of sequel to the original game, ZunderFury.

“It uses roughly the same engine as OrbBlaster, but with bitmap rendering instead of vector for much better performance when displaying hundreds of enemies. The shmup gameplay is more traditional and straightforward” said the author.

ZunderFury features a classic upgrade system and an achievement system for those “who would like to take on different challenges besides reaching the highest score”. Use the arrow keys to control your ship and click your left mouse to toggle the auto-fire one. Aim with your mouse and press spacebar to destroy all enemies on the screen.

ZunderFury is a nice and challenging shmup; with a high score table for extra replay value and the mouse to move the ship instead of the keyboard (a la Neon), this game would have been near perfect!

Filler is a brand new action/puzzle game created by SimianLogic. Your goal here is to fill up the two-third of the screen with filler white balls while avoiding the bouncing balls.

To create a filler ball, click and hold your mouse button: the ball will track your mouse pointer and will grow until you release the mouse, it hits another filler ball or it runs into a bouncing ball.

You have a limited number of balls to complete each stage: don’t run out of them or each new ball will cost you a life! If you squash a bouncing ball, it will reappear at the top right corner.

Overall, Filler is a simple little game that becomes very addictive: it had me playing for about an hour before I finally decided to stop and write this!

Zwingo is a fun skill game designed by Kabomb (Orbis Impetus) in which you swing a ball around using your mouse. Your goal is to protect the center white ball from the black balls that try to push it out of the inner ring.

If the white ball leaves the boundary area, the game is over. Every ten levels, you will have to fight a boss: hit him until he runs out of health to defeat him.

Buy upgrades between each level (ball size, ball speed, white ball size and boundary area) and try to complete the 50 levels proposed in the game.

Overall, Zwingo is a game worth playing, even if you are not a fan of the genre.

Bombsquad by T. Hartmann of Germany is an interesting arcade game in which your goal is to clean up the diamonds on the screen using your bombs.

To do so, use the left and right arrows to aim your turret located at the bottom of the game window and hold/release the space bar to charge the toggle power/shoot bombs.

Let bullets collide with your bombs to redirect them. Diamonds fallen beneath the bottom line turn into torpedoes. Hit a torpedo once to set it off and hit it another time to destroy it before it reaches the bottom line!

Bombsquad is a fun, fast paced game that is simple to learn, but difficult to master. Unfortunately, there is no high score table, but you can share your high score in the comments!

StormWinds 1.5 is live!

According to Jared Riley, “StormWinds 1.5 is a huge upgrade made to the original StormWinds. Although the first game did fairly well, a lot of suggestions were brought and I felt like we could do better. This then, is the result of hundreds of user comments and reviews. I think it’s a big step up, and I hope you all enjoy it!”

StormWinds places the player in a steampunk setting, facing a massive invasion of airships and other flying contraptions. A blend between a tower defense game and a shooter, you must choose your defenses then use them personally to gain victory.

Frogger is an arcade game developed by Konami in 1981. Developer Paul Neave created one of the best online versions of the arcade classic Frogger.

In this version not only the cars, the logs, the snakes, the alligators and the flies are here (some only appear in advanced levels) but the game also features a high-scores board that is - unfortunately - reset everyday.

Overall, this version is a great remake that all Frogger fans will want to play!

The Konami official version of the Frogger arcade game is still alive! This Java version, hosted at 1980-games.com is identical to the original game. Unfortunately, the game window is way too small and you have an unlimited number of lives to complete each stage. That being said, this version deserves at least a try from anyone who enjoys Frogger. Have fun!
